A good friend of mine surprised me today with this watch as a gift. It dates to 1985, the same year as my burgundy 300D. It came from the owner of an MB dealership in Los Angeles, most likely a presentation watch from Mercedes in the Big 80's!
I was hit completely between the eyes, deer in the headlights moment for sure.
By far, the best way to get a new watch. I am completely speechless, which is very rare for me.

I love Benzes. Had three of them. Cool watch.
What an amazing gift! Please post pics with your 300D! 😁

I'll post some later, I have the car out today.
Amazing! Congratulations 👌 What a friend! You're very lucky 👍
John, This is really beautiful. I’m with those who can’t wait to see it with the car!
Can I borrow your friends! 😂 You have good ones. That's a beautiful watch I'd be speechless to. Congratulations.
What a beaut! Plus a friend who knows you well. You're a lucky man!

That car is in stunning condition! Are you the original owner? I can’t get over how nice it looks inside and out. Btw if your friend needs more friends to gift those Omegas to let me know. 😁

Exactly the color I was hoping it would be. Gorgeous car. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Lovely watch! Congrats on the gift.
What an amazing friend gifting an awesome watch. I know the feeling that you described. I had something similar happen to me not to long ago. You can check it out later. Today is your day to celebrate 🎊

Thanks! This car served as my daily car for well over 20 years. For the last 15 years it's the garage queen but I take it out once in a while. These cars can be maintained and run for as long as you want. The very best analog driving experience.
Heck yeah my man!😎You must be a hell of a guy~
Wow John! I am super happy for you! This is an incredibly thoughtful gift! You have a great friend that really knows you. Enjoy my man!
Lovely 😍😍 watches and Mercedes-Benz are made for each other like nature and life in it
😁🍻

At least you don't have to fight salt. I literally get my car washed every day in the winter to keep it from melting away.
Wonderful gift 🎯
That's an amazing gift! Oh the stories that watch could tell!😂
Wow amazing so happy for you my friend 😎🙏
Pretty cool pressie John . Congrats 🥳
Great car and watch. Love the retro band on it.
Whoa. Looks like it’s in insanely good condition too!
Oh wow man! That’s an awesome gift. I love the speidel bracelet too, so old school.

The Speidel came from my parts bin, he gave it to me without a band. I had nothing else that would work so I threw it on this Speidel that I had as a spare! Looking for something else now.....

Ah I see. Maybe a nice leather strap, or even a rice bead bracelet would fit well.
What a great friend. A good friend is worth their weight in gold. They obviously know what you like. Congrats.
I’m more of a BMW guy but 300Ds are in a league of their own…. and that watch is almost as cool as the car. Congrats!
Those pictures make me miss my ‘74 Bavaria 3.0.
