Introducing another vintage Seiko for the watch box. My Seiko 5 Actus SS 6106-7690, made in September of 1973.

The JDM only Seiko 5 Actus line up wasn't initially on my radar, but I reconsidered when I learned of this reference. For whatever reason I grew a lit...

New (to me) Watch Alert! Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer 7017-6010, made in February of 1971.

Unless I'm honeymooning with a new watch in my collection, I almost always wear a different one each day. Power reserve doesn't really matter to me all that much, nor does accuracy as long as the watch is functioning properly.

It's a faceted crystal. The one on this watch is a completely flawless NOS replacement so it really pops.

That's gorgeous! Hopefully it'll still be available for you when the time's right. That'd be one sweet birth year watch.

That Lord Marvel is magnificent. I can see why you treasure it so much.

Totally. I feel like I regularly discover vintage Seikos with dials that I absolutely must have.

Thanks! The dial on yours is beautiful as well. A faceted crystal would definitely look interesting over top it.

commented on To those of you who own a watch with a black coating over the steel, how do you feel about your purchase now? ·

I have a PVD coated Seiko chronograph from the 80's. I actually really like the distressed look it has now with the black finish having faded or been scratched up here and there. It gives the watch a nice rugged quality. It's probably not the kind of appearance you'd want for a dress watch, but for a tool watch like this I think it works.
