GMT watches: What time zones are you tracking?

Whether you have a "true" GMT or "office" GMT complication, if you love your GMT and actually use it to track another time zone, let's see it!

Image

Pictured here is my Rolex GMT Master II ref. 126710BLRO aka the Pepsi GMT. The GMT Master II is a "true" or "traveler's" GMT, which means the 12-hour hand can be independently set from the 24-hr/GMT hand. It also has a rotating bezel which allows it to actually track 3 separate time zones at a glance. More on that in this Crown & Caliber YouTube video: https://youtu.be/3jTaFmy38xM

At a glance, can you tell what time zone(s) I'm tracking? Here's a hint: I'm in the US Central time zone.

I only keep track of “Lunch Time” at work 🤭

Since I live in the Middle East, I track EST. On my Airman, I also track UTC.

Oddly enough I don't currently own a GMT, just a world timer (because I'm fancy I guess?) 🎩

Not wearing it right now, but the main dial is set to local (pacific time) and the second time zone is either New York time or Central European time (because of the Euronext market).

·

I don't have a GMT (yet) however on my Lorier Gemini (12 hour bezel) I have it at UTC+1 because that's the timezone my fiancee's family is from.

Once I have my GMT I would have the GMT hand set to GMT and the bezel set to GMT +1 with the local hand being my home time.

·

The GMT, of course. Used to track New York but changed it.

·

Got few GMT watches and I used to track different places around the world with no reason. Now I just use it as day night indicator. However, I plan to use it when i travel to track home. I need to change my job to a traveling job to use them.

As a Filipino-American, the GMT hand tracks the time in the Philippines while living in California (Pacific Time).

China Standard Time - for work

·

I live in Florida and track Hawaii time on my one GMT. Why? Because if someone living in paradise was going to fantasize about another paradise, that would be the one.

·

Idk if it qualifies as a proper GMT but I track UTC time on the second time zone on my Aerospace Evo.

South Africa as I have colleagues there I work with. But honestly I mostly just like the looks.

This might be my next watch upgrade. I like the sizing but all those top dials are stupidly wasted. The left one is a charge indicator (these watches never run low under regular use) the big one is the UTC/universal time zone (I don't live on the International Space Station) and the right one is a 24h local time which (I can see if it's night though the window).

If that the time zone you track or your guess on my second time zone?

·

Uncle lives in Switzerland so I always like to know where he is (time wise) in his day

GMT's are also great for Tides

Interesting. How do you track the tides with the GMT function?

So, because I’m a story driven nerd and invest everything with meaning here’s why I set my Avenger 43 to PST, 8 hours behind UK.

The thing that changed my mind a couple of years ago to actually a) earn what I was worth and b) spend some real money on the things that I like instead of being super “responsible” all the time, was joining a mastermind thing called Warrior led by a guy called Garrett White.

He and a bunch of my online buddies are out in California.

The Breitling got bought to mark that shift as well as the 10yr anniv of running my own business.

Having the red hand point to where those guys are is a daily reminder  to think and show up differently.

Nothing to cringe about in that post! Nice back story!

Seeing as I do most of my work in zulu time, main hands set to local time, gmt hand always set to UTC so that I can be oriented no matter where I land. Then all I have to do is remember the gmt +/- for whatever timezone I need beyond that (home, east coast, japan, etc) and use the bezel to check it.

·

It's actually pretty easy (but admittedly very watch-geek) to do that with the GMT Master II. When I used to travel frequently for business (pre-pandemic) I'd do it all the time.

Mabuhay, Kabayan! 🍻

I work with too many times zones to track with a watch, but when I travel I like the Sinn 856 UTC to track my home time. A Casio GW-M5610 fits the bill for plane travel and high risk areas (though the updated U model in the NASA version and other models is slightly better). Recently picked up a Longines VHP GMT and look forward to adding a Jack Mason Strat-o-timer to the mix soon...

the tide change progresses up the west coast. Up in the San Juan's there are multiple tide changes through out the day. Just crossing one channel you can have several current changes that are pretty timely. So its no different than tracking another time zone.

I just have a basic quartz gmt.  I'vereally only used it to track local time where my wife was at so I knew when to call.

·

I use mine to keep track of local time at Motogp races.

·

My Longines Zulu Time is arriving tomorrow. I don't know if I'll even use the GMT. I just love the watch.

·

Local is CST. GMT set for Poland.

Local eastern time zone (nyc), gmt  central time zone (home)

I have two dual-time watches one is my Jeager LeCoultre Hometime, which I set the dual time only when traveling. The secondary hour hand is hidden behind the primary hour hand when not set. My other GMT watch is a Yema GMT bronze and the GMT hand is set to the timezone that Thailand resides in because I have a rental property in Thailand and have to deal with my agents in Thailand all the time.
