Most people, 5-10 years into their collecting, have a vastly different collection to when they began, and considerably different ideas on how to collect.
I get consistently downvoted to hell for this first one on Reddit:
1.) The use of โhomageโ is stupid and we stop using it to mean โblatant copyโ. It feels like something a legal team would come up with or a squeamish author. Theyโre copies. Thatโs what they are. There is not honor element. They are copying someone elseโs work and raking in money.
2.) โdestroโ is a stupid term that feels almost deliberately jargony. It means (oneโs) โright handโ. Did someone fail their Italian class? Just say โleft-handedโ and write that or โLHโ. Watch media are generally are just embarrassing when discussing LH wristwatches. It really isnโt hard to understand, guys. Itโs not like asking if bras are for men, if you want to wear an LH wristwatch and youโre RH. Not to mention the archaic, weird bigotry around them when an LH watch is a model of its own.

Your job isn't to make others happy with your watch choices. Your Wrist Your Rules. Do You!
Donโt let people see your watch. Make your wristshots as blurry as possible.
Edit: This was a joke
This applies
Iโve said it before butโฆbuy all your watches twenty years ago like I did. Much cheaper that way ๐
Quartz is the best
Kristian Haagan said it best: "Choose the watch that makes you forget about time when looking at it."
Anyone with a smartphone can become a self proclaimed YouTube expert!
Its a marathon not a sprint
Buy what you love & love what you've bought
No one in normal society even notices your watch
Less is more
Measure twice cut once
A watch in the hand is worth two in the wishlist
Merry Christmas โ๐
Stainless steel bracelets will burn your wrists if you happen to be laying in the desert sun for hours. ๐ฅ
I donโt think the Speedmaster is a must own.
Hot Take: Some of the watches people show off on WC are crap ๐ฉ
Accuracy on watches without indices is pointless.
The PRX is overrated.
The 36mm Rolex Explorer is too small (for me).
Hot Take: Some of the watches people show off on WC are crap ๐ฉ
Just like some of the commenters.
Don't be fooled by the "must buy it on the bracelet" brigade, especially when the bracelet is ugly.
Apple watch is the best. It has more complications than any PP and is more accurate than a Breitling super quartz.
AP is overrated.
Very few people would actually buy a hype watch if a specific brand name wasnโt printed on it or a specfic celebrity wasnโt wearing it.
Your collection is not โhumble.โ
These hot takes are making it too warm in here for me. Iโm gonna go somewhere more chill. ๐
Some Rolex owners know absolutely nothing about watches.
If your watch costs more than $2,000 its bracelet must taper! Omega Iโm looking at you; your bracelets are crap.

I think this take is as cold as ice
The value of any time piece is always given by the owner.

Totally agree with point #1.

Aside from Omega, The Swatch Group needs to stop ruining bracelets with butterfly clasps. Or at least they should make them removable
Most Rolex is overrated even at MSRP. OP is just a 4k watch at best.
Iโm curious how much if the price is a product of the extreme degree of vertical integration they do.

Or, at this point, someone on YouTube may be more influential to the community than a traditional celebrity . . . But same phenomenon.
Your collection is not โhumble.โ
No, itโs not a humble collection . . . Itโs a Honda Accord you keep in a safe in a closet.
Casios are OK
Haha my brother bought me a Casio for Christmas ๐ maybe I'll change my mind
Hublots are ugly AF and the people who wear them are nouveau riche and devoid of any class, taste, or sophistication.
Smart watches are not evil and have their place and time.
