My new Cartier friend

I've spent some time thinking about my next watch purchase, whether I need it or not. I've watched a ton of videos and looked at pictures. I tried it on a few months ago, but I still wasn't 100% sure. Then I went on a trip to Malaysia, knowing that there is a Cartier boutique there. But after arriving, I became even more puzzled because I thought I liked the XL version of the Santos watch due to its very nice blue dial. However, I wasn't sure if this size really suited me.

So I was hesitating between the XL version and a medium version of the Santos with a white dial. The Santos XL seemed too big for my wrist. But the next day, I went to the boutique again and looked at myself in the mirror. Finally, I made my choice. The Santos medium looks more appropriate in terms of size, and with its simple and high-contrast dial, it definitely stands out on my wrist. Even though it's only 35mm, it doesn't look small!

Now I have a perfect present for my upcoming birthday, and shopping at Cartier was a really pleasant experience. It really feels different when you're buying something brand new from the store! I think every watch collector should experience this at least once!

Nice. I do the same double think when it's an expensive purchase, no point in jumping at the first option without due diligence.

You're right about the AD thing, everyone should try it once if possible. I like their bag, very understated! The VC ones are just black with the text on the inside, so nobody has an idea what you're carrying.

I think square watches give a bigger latitude to what's 'acceptable', that definitely looks perfect and I'm not convinced that the XL does. Definitely worth some bubbles!

The white dial definitely looks more classic and fit you well

·

You made a good choice. Congrats!

Congrats on a great choice. I agree, the large is a beast. I was drawn to it for the same reason as you, the blue dial, but the size was too much. I'm really glad they've just released the blue and green dial in the medium. In my book, the white dial will always be king, the others are ones you can add to the collection for a bit of variation.

Congrats on your new beautiful Santos…and happy early birthday 🤙🎂🍾❤️

·

Good choice! So are you waiting for your birthday to wear it, or did you open your present early?

·

That looks perfect on you.

Hate to use the word “Classy” but the white dial is the way to go.

FYI square watches wear bigger, also the blue dial makes it hard to read the time with the glare.

Congrats

·

Congratulation to your new watch and upcoming birthday. The Santos is a really nice watch and the medium fits you perfectly.

That’s a present that came a bit early 😀but of course I’ve started wearing it immediately 😄

Nice

You made the right choice.

Congratulations on a beautiful timepiece.

That white dial is so great, congrats!

·

Yeah. Spot on

·

Had the exact same experience as you except it wasn’t my birthday and I put mine on immediately. 😆 I could get hit by a truck tomorrow! 👀

I believe this will be my next watch. I have 7” wrists and tried on the large. I was not impressed enough to buy. I will be going to an AD and trying one on in medium. If it is as expected, I will buy one in 2024.

Pure class

Let's be honest for a moment: Both watches wold have been a good choice, wouldn't it? 😜

Congratulation on the purchase! How long do you have to stare at the watch box until your birthday?

I’m not the one who likes to wait! Wearing it 2 weeks before the birthday 😀
