What's your EXIT watch ?

Have you ever refrained from buying a watch because it's TOO good? Well I have, because I'm worried it'll ruin the rest of my collection...

But some days, I wish I can just wake up, throw on the same watch and get on with my life. In a parallel universe, what would be that ONE watch to retire you from the game?

What is fascinating to me is that all these watches that you describe as great exit watches are “enabling watches” to me.

Once you have one of these, you don't need to have a "versatile" watch anymore. You can be funky, silly, and ridiculous.

They can be a “one and done” watch or on the opposite side a license to have fun with your next purchase without even having to pretend to be sensible 😊

Maybe not the IWC... But you get the spirit!

I'm just trying to figure out if I have room in my 30+ collection for the AT 😅

I am the wrong person to ask. I adore my AT.

It’s the 16570 model with the “panna” dial according to the advert.

What a beauty

Def my ginza. Only watch that’s remained out of all my collection changes!

Mine is the sinn 856. It's the blacked out version of the sinn 556. My collection would definitely be done when I get it

I’m sure 100 people have said it already, but there’s no exit watch for me. I’m in it for the long run.

·

Glad you included the Alpinist. That’s my next purchase.

I think the Speedy could be my exit watch. Dresses up well. History. Looks great. Understated but solid. But I realize that’s not a common opinion.

Is there such a thing? 🤔

Omega Speedmaster Professional for me. I’m scared.

I'm in this for the long run, no exit piece here

As someone who has picked up a number of watches on their list of desirables (and my list looks completely different to the average fan), it doesn’t stop anything. There will always be something that catches your eye, but it also depends on what you really want out of all this at the end of the day. I find the concept of an exit watch slightly bizarre, because one watch is not practical for every situation, and also if you are a collector or enthusiast, just seems counterintuitive to try and distill everything into one piece; are you ashamed of liking watches? Do you need to make an excuse for your one choice?

·

The Longines spirit 37, if I got that I would probably never buy another watch again. Mostly because my budget would be completely exhausted

·

My AT or Seamaster....but there's still more I want 😩🤣

·

My only exit is death 😅 all great watches though! There’s something beautiful I have recently experienced, my most expensive watch is around 1k however, I think I have reached a point in my collecting where all my watches are keepers and In practical terms I wouldn’t need any other watches, I love every single piece. What I am talking about is more a mind space of contentment, which is liberating. Now I feel I can look at high end pieces with less of a need to own them and more of a curiosity and interest over what watch I see myself owning indipendently of the price or whether it is an high end piece or not. The boundaries of price, status and so on are disappearing and all I see is just watches, some of which I may own at some point in my life. 🙂

Got my AT and thought it would be my last watch but the collection continues to grow but definitely with more discernment to only go after what truly pulls on my heartstrings!

What size is that watch and what is your wrist size? I love the green AT! Looks great on you too!

41mm on a 6.5 inch / 16.5cm wrist. I wear everything from 35mm to 42mm but 38-41 is my preferred case size.

Thank you! I have the same wrist size. Seeing that on you has really opened my mind up to the idea of larger watches. 🍻

I think my exit watch might be a Speedmaster. It’s a very boring answer I am sure, but it definitely checks all my boxes. It’s next on the list, so looking forward to testing the theory. I love the new Ingenieur but out of my realistic price range.

THIS turned out to be my exit watch. Bought it new from an AD in October '22 and haven't bought a watch since. It's not the one I wear the most, but close.
