I would say is mostly about money. If I have all my bills paid, Emergency money, Savings, 401k for retirement and no crazy debts. I can spoil my self a little bit. I wish I can be one of those financial Guru's that eats lettuce and saves all their money but I personally would have a sad life.
The weather was good. Same reason I give other people a present. You don’t love or enjoy life only on special occasions, would make life pretty depressing ;-)
Being self-employed and married for 24 years, born 2 days before Christmas, there aren't that many occasions. Looking forward to my 25th "silver" anniversary and a NB1060-12L "silver leaf dial".
I used to have a certain budget for stuff that is only for me such as clothing or new hard cover books( non fiction from a handful of preferred authors) as well as the odd watch that I wanted to experience, since covid and forced retirement, I wear very casual clothes that I never used to need and also became bored with most of the material being published leaving me extra dollars for my watch hobby. The money that I spend on timepieces is significant enough to affect my future needs. I buy whenever I feel like a new watch.
I bought a seiko alpanist sarb017 ahead of time knowing it would be discontinued. I put it on a watch winder for 4 months while I saved up for my first condo not wearing until I bought it. I decided id make a purchase after certain investment milestones like buying a rentel property or putting x amount of money in stocks or other securities.

Fortunately my wife likes to give me gifts on anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas. It also ensures reciprocal offerings.

you tell her what watches you like or is it an actual surprise?
Bit of both just like her presents. She’s been known to take home watches I’ve been trying on which become hers too
It was Tuesday.
I still exist. Hey, I justify it any way I choose. 😎
Lottery win

Surviving the winter.

Not significant
All of the above 🤣
Bought a deep sea pre COVID on the grey market for my retirement
I bought myself a congrats on the new job watch. Which I suppose could go under promotion.
No real reason 🤣

Lusting...
Just because
Grad school graduation!
A really rough 2023, I decided that I deserved a watch for making it through!
My last purchase, not exactly an expensive watch, was motivated by the bad weather. Weather still bad but at least I have a nice watch on my wrist.
All besides marriage. Guessing that’ll actually make me stop buying them 🤷🏽♂️
I bought my only expensive (for me) watch to celebrate both my birthday and my honorable discharge from the military
I liked it a lot.
A divorce
Quitting a job that I hated
Worked a summer job and had a large sum of money to spend on a nice watch( I’m not an adult; no adult expenses to pay).
Others : when I have saved enough to buy the watch of my dreams ! 😂
