My Grail: Omega Seamaster 300 Professional

This has been a watch I have had my eyes on for nearly ten years. For the longest time I honestly didn’t think I would ever pull the trigger on this until my wife and I found out we were going to have a baby due in the summer 2022.

Back to the fall of 2021, I started the long journey of selling most of my watches that I didn’t have any sort of attachment to. That put a good dent into the grail fund. Then we found out the heart breaking news of that we would have a miscarriage just two days before Christmas which brought unforeseen medical bills. I quickly used my grail fund to pay for the bill because at the end of the day, family will always be first.

Early 2022 rolls along and we found out we were pregnant again! As you could imagine we were thrilled with the news but nervous after all we just went though a few short months back. My wife said, “I think you should get that Omega you always wanted to celebrate.” SO, the saving began again.

After selling lots of gifts from my childhood that I did not use anymore like vintage video games and more collectibles I had the fund rolling along nicely. After more watches sold the fund came to a good place to start looking for the Seamaster I wanted more seriously. Expensive things are typically not for me as I have the weird mentality that I don’t deserve nice things. My wife again told me, “please buy the Omega you’ve always wanted, you saved specifically for it!” So, I did what any good husband would do, listened to my wife and bought the darn thing.

This watch is a culmination of sacrifice, heartbreak, years of gifts from others and a massive celebration in one beautiful hunk of steel.

Here we are, one month away from welcoming our first child due on Thanksgiving. I can tell you one thing, I will be wearing this when I hold our daughter for the first time and it will never leave my collection.

Hooray!  Congratulations!

Oh and nice watch!

·

Great story!

Rock that Omega on your wrist while rocking that baby in your arms.  Make sure your watch is visible in every baby picture possible.  Best wishes to mom and you.

·

Congrats and great story behind the watch! My son was just born this past Saturday, and I was very happy to be wearing my Cartier Santos when we had to rush off to the hospital. I bought the watch to celebrate paying off our student loans (the one thing holding me and my wife back from trying for kids) and I’m glad to add some additional sentimentality to it

Congratulations to your wife and yourself. Oh, and nice watch. 🍻

Congratulations !

That's a great story, and you're really lucky to have a wife that supports your love of watches. I suspect that with the story behind it, that watch will remain with you for the rest of your days, and hopefully your child will continue to cherish it long after you're gone.

·

I can already tell, this watch will be a special one with an awesome story to go along. Congratulations and wish you guys great times ahead.

·

Double congratulations!

·

What a story!! Congratulations to incoming of new member to your family. And Congratulations to acquiring the new member in your collection!! Treasure the moments. 🍻

·

Brilliant! So happy for you both

·

Wonderful! A great choice of timepiece and the start of a journey with your new addition!

·

Great story and piece. Also great show of having your priorities straight and having patience to let go of things before buying a watch. I do it the other way around which makes no sense (ie buy a watch and scramble to sell others to make up for it!).

·

Congratulations!

Looks amazing! Keep it on the wrist so you don’t have to be like the fool in the recent Hodinke article who delayed going to the hospital to run inside to grab his Rolex 😂

·

Fantastic story and congrats on the pending arrival. My wife and I are expecting in Jan as well and I just went through a similar “celebration” purchase. Congrats again and beautiful SMP.

First of all, congratulations for you having an upcoming child, and a great wife. I love the part that she insist for you to pull the trigger. 😁 👍👍

SMP is also the watch that brought me into this watch lovehood, yet I have never owned one.

My wife and I are expecting a twin too - so .. may our both family happy with our upcoming loves 😉😉

Congratulations again, it is a beatiful story, and thank you for sharing

Haha I was discussing this with my wife the other night, safe to say she would not be impressed!

It is a small reason why I am not wearing anything else at the moment though. I dont really want the F91W to be the birth watch!

I’ll make a post by next. Tried to wear for a month or so without any social posting to see if I’d still like it as much as expected. Cheers though.

I wish your story wasn’t marked with such a heartbreaking event, but I’m glad to hear your family is in the position they are now. I know that watch will be treasured even more for the journey you’ve been on. Wear it in good health and congrats!

·

Congratulations!!!  Great story and good luck with the baby!!!  It's so good that you will have something else to appreciate during those 2 am feedings.

·

Got it in white , its a fucking epic watch to be honest , Im sure you will love every second of owning it.

congrats !

·

Congrats, love that Seamaster! I prefer it over the new ones, it wears smaller in my opinion and is lesss shiney which i like :)

I feel the same way. As much as the new ones are stunning, I like more of the sophisticated and less “in your face” look of the waveless.

·

What a story you got behind that watch my friend!
