Champagne Dials - Where is the love?

Lots of talk about diverse dials and how black, blue and white are typical front runners. What about a champagne dial? My Grand Seiko, for example, is classified as a champagne dial but this doesn’t do any justice for the versatility of this color.

Champagne can be seen as a dress watch color. Some champagne dials make great dress watch’s. This Grand Seiko dial goes from champagne to silver to white depending on what you are wearing and the lighting. **see photos, note: the photo of the GS in hand is not my photo**

Why don’t we see more “champagne” dials from other brands?

Tried this on the other day and I think would be considered champagne (or very close). Couldn’t agree on price.

That's an almost perfect watch if you ask me. Beautiful.

It's light champagne, and shifts with different light temperatures, sometimes more silvery. Vintage Kelton.

These grand seiko champagne dials are phenomenal!

Nomos has some champagne-ish coloured dials.

Are those two different watches, or does the dial color change based on the lighting?

I've always thought of champage dials as being a bit more "yellow" than most of the ones shown, which appear more "silver" to me. The ones that can change appearance from a silver tone to the yellowy gold tone depending on the light tend to be my favorites.

This champagne Seiko dial is criminally overlooked. I have the same watch in a different colour but I almost went with yours.

That is such a beautiful watch, but I have this thing about cut-off numerals. I feel so sorry for the 7 and the 5.

Champagne and Bauhaus? That's not supposed to go together, is it?? But it does here.

Well, it's more of a matte cream color ;)

Same dial, it's one of those that "plays with the light". Here's another look, sometimes you can barely read it but I wouldn't want black hands ruining the look.

" . . . sometimes you can barely read it, but I wouldn't want black hands ruining the look."

Either intentionally or unintentionally, and I'm guessing the former, Cantaloop has perfectly described the essence of what a truly and exceptionally beautiful watch is. It looks so good that you don't care if it's difficult to read the time, or if it tells the wrong time, or maybe even doesn't tell the time at all. When you have a dial like that, what does it matter? They could take the whole movement out of this watch, knock a few hundred bucks off, freeze the hands at 10:10, and I might still buy it.

These are my champagne dial watches. They qualify for me at least 😀

Your Seiko at the top is super elegant.

There really is something about a champagne dial, isn't there? A white dial is more everyday, a champagne dial is for an Occasion. That's how I see it.

One more thing about your watch - I first saw the strap photo and thought how that particular look added to the beauty of the watch and how necessary it was, and then I saw the bracelet photo and thought it was equally spectacular. This is not a watch I thought would be a "strap monster" but indeed it is. This watch might even look good if you put a piece of grey duct tape between the lugs.

I have seen your Kelton watch on a different post and it is just a beauty. Is it champagne? I don't sit around the house having a glass of champagne after my microwave dinner every night, so I don't know what the "true" champagne color really looks like. I say this is close enough.

This reminds me of the time I wanted some off-white paint for me to paint my garage doors. The local hardware store had 37(!) different shades of beige and off-white. I ended up deciding on one called "Wafer".
