A tale of two GMTs

Another comparison I often get asked about, and as a man of the #watchfam, your wish is my command.

SameSame but wildly different! Same: both 39mm GMTs with steel bezels. Biggest difference is thickness, then movement (Tudor is Flyer, while Seiko is Caller), and clasp (Tudor wins with T-Fit, while Seiko only has two microadjust holes). These differences combine for a totally different wearing experience. The BB Pro is a tool watch as it is more robust. The Navigator Timer wears like a vintage watch (minus the flimsy jubilee bracelet as this one is solid!)

So which would you choose? 🤔

Great comparison!

I think I'd take the Seiko and not just because I dislike the snowflake hands on the Tudor.

Also, I appreciate that you did not use 'true' when describing the two movements.

·

No. One is the Poor Man’s Rolex. The other…isn’t even a Rolex

·

Would personally go for Tudor because of the better color contrast

·

Personally I prefer the dial on the Tudor the hands on the Seiko the bracelet on the Tudor and the crown on the Seiko. But there's no competition on size so the Seiko gets my vote.

·

I'd go with the seiko, but I would say that wouldn't I 🙄🤣😂no not on team seiko for a minute,it would be my pic prefer everything about it visually 🔥tudor is nice looking as well looks very thick though.

·

Purely on looks the Seiko wins hands down. So much more elegant and classy looking.

·

Hmm Seiko

·

I would choose this one

Does the bezel rotate on the seiko?

·

As a BB GMT owner, Tudor all the way!

·

I chose the BB Pro.

·

The only true GMT is a flyer. Everything else is just a 2 time zone watch. 😉

If only they made that GMT in white…with square indices….. and out of Titanium.

I think they will soon but it might be an FXD gmt, they have already made the chronograph version.

·

Probably the Seiko, seems like it would wear better with a shorter lug to lug and thinner case.

That would be fun. I’d love to see a peligos “homage” to the polar explorer 16570.

·

The look on the Seiko is real clean. And the design manages to trick the thickness into looking thinner than it is really, the Tudor looks chunkier by far and less subtle overall, with the hands, indices, etc.

But the Tudor being a true GMT makes them both a tie if price was not a factor.

Tudor is not even close to be a poor man’s Rolex.

·

Between these two Seiko wins for me hands down didn't even have to think it over .

I hope they release that Navigator Timer with the 5K65 solar quartz caliber. Even though I already have a Solar Sumo GMT, it’d be tough to not go for a Solar Navigator.

Now that would be an INSTANT buy. Or that caliber in the SKX GMT case.

I'm quite happy with my Zulu Time in blue!

Lovely 39mm Zulu Time. I have the 42mm green.

·

The BB Pro is just too thick for my liking.

On the other hand, I have an office GMT (CW Sealander) and I think i would much prefer a true GMT. So that means the Seiko is out. I also think the odd numbers around the bezel are weird and would prefer even numbers.

Neither of these fit the bill for me.

·

Tudor. I have it and have worn it on many trips. Looks fantastic but is also unassuming. Legibility is better. I like the seiko but I find caller gmt to be a pain and the either the hands or dial needs to darker.

·

This one’s really tough as both brand make another GMT I’d rather have. Hmm probably the Tudor because I know the Seiko bracelet would eventually kill me 😅

·

Or in the new 5 Sports Field SBSC/SSK case.

Does Seiko make 5 series quartz watches? I think they’re all automatic, at least currently. There’s be a lot of watch nerds that’d be really salty if Seiko put a solar quartz movement in a 5, I think 😄

·

The Seiko looks way better. Way.

·

Would go for the Tudor Black Bay Pro if money plays no part of the consideration.

·

Wow, who would’ve thought that here’s just another post with an extremely ugly Tudor.

Thanks for including the Seiko to alleviate the pain 🙏🏻

Haha maybe not now, but that is how Tudor started!

·

Man alive that Tudor is thick.

I don't actually think the thickness is a problem, it's the 39mm diameter that was my issue when I tried one on last summer.
