Should I sell my Oris

I got this as a birthday present to myself earlier this year, it’s not that I don’t wear it, but I realised I could also wear my Grand Seiko SBGM221 with any „designated Oris Outfit“ and I decided to sell it. It is not yet gone and I am longing for the Oris on my wrist. But I also could use the money to move out. It is a dilemma between heart and mind. So I ask my fellow Crunchers: should I sell it or keep it? Either way is fine with me but I am too hesitant to decide myself.

Never sell.

Sorry my friend only you can answer that question… and whatever you decide no judgement here… do what’s best for you 🍻

·

Muhahaha!! I thought it’s just me… but decide to be nice today !! Muahahaha!!

@IceCreamMan always gives that answer, and it’s always right. I will say that if keeping or selling a watch determines your ability to secure housing, then you may have considerations in terms of solvency, budgeting, and priorities that go far beyond the scope of WatchCrunch.

Yes I’m with the who cares 🤷‍♂️

That's a very personal question. You are asking a watch community if you should sell your watch to move out. Most people here ask if they should sell because 1. they want to upgrade watches 2. do not wear the watch 3. too many watches in their collection. We would not know if it's best for you to move out if the moving out requires for you to sell a watch. Are you being evicted or kickout from your current spot? All I can say if it's on some survival moment do what you must materials things come and go. Like I told my wife If buying a watch puts a dent from doing everyday things like eat, gas, rent or dipping into your savings then you are doing it wrong.

Out of sight, out of mind. Sell, baby, sell.

To echo the hive mind; it's your life, do what you want.

But this type of post falls right into line with what I've been thinking about in regards to my own collecting strategy. Mainly, everything in life has a time and an order to it; IMO.

Childhood, schooling, move out, career, marriage, home/set down roots, kids, etc.

Me, I've done things a little out of order of the norm (like bought season tickets for a sports team before I bought a home instead of the other way round) and I'm reaping what I've sown so to speak.

There will be more watches. But there's never a better time to establish some real independence than now.

Moving out will sort of force you to focus on your needs (Short & Long-term) and make you hungrier to reach for better jobs instead of settling for just getting by; which in turn may potentially improve your quality of life down the road.

Of course, still your life so you can do as you want. Just my opinion. YMMV

Sell it.

·

Sell it and donate the money to charity.

That way you get the worst of both options.

·

If you still like and enjoy the watch, selling only produces a net loss of money realized (at least usually).

·

I didn’t vote but I’ve been in your situation, make sure in your heart that if you sell it now in 2 months or 2 years or what ever you won’t wish you hadn’t. I’m still kicking myself for a couple I sold without thinking it through.

·

Well, you know very well that practical every watch is a bad investment, but if you need cash, what I understand, I would simply sell and take a possible loss, good luck

·

If you could use the money, sell it. If you can't use the money, sell it and send me the money.

·

I have rule: If, for any reason, I don't love it, I sell it, return it, give it away, whatever. In my way of thinking, the fact you are asking about selling it means you don't love it. If you loved it, you would never consider selling it apart from financial hardship. So, sell it because it's not special to you.

·

your going to lose money but it's an education on what you really want

·

Since you asked don’t let a watch keep you from furthering yourself in life…

·

Sell it and move out. The sense of independence will feel great. 😎👍🏻

·

The watch is nice but because you’re thinking of a replacement then you don’t love it enough to keep it:)

·

You need a cone that’s why your getting snarky 😂 pack me one too !

·

But I also could use the money to move out.

Great idea!

·

Do like the rest of us adults, have a drink and figure it out.

·

The Oris will likely be available on the secondary market for around the price you sell it for...so you can think about it like you are pawning it. You sell it now and if you really want it back in the future...then you buy it back for the price you sold it for. It's not a really rare watch nor is it a hype watch.

My answer would be different depending on the watch.

Update: against my better judgement I decided not to sell it, or rather, to list it on Chrono and wear it in the meantime; I’ll sell it if a sufficient offer comes in, but I’m not planning on it :)
