Nice to be here!

Hey all -

New to the forum and happy I found it.

I've been collecting (mostly average) watches for a while. About half my collection is made up of Citizen Eco-drives, including some radio controlled models. Always found that technology neat!

Most recently I've been getting into automatics as I appreciate the mechanics of the movements.

This orange bad-boy arrived today! I just finished sizing it for my wrist and am happy to have something a little bold in my collection.

I've read through some of the posts here already, and you all seem like a solid group. I look forward to asking questions and sharing my experiences if relevant.

welcome! It’s a great bargain that Seiko GMT!

·

It is indeed!

I managed to find a listing online and think I got a decent deal... They're not so hard to find, but they've received a lot of press in the past few months.

It was this or the SRPD59, but since I already have the SRPD85 I figured the additional complication was worth a bit of extra coin... And now I have a GMT! (yes, I know this is not considered a 'true' GMT)

Did you pick one up?

Welcome!  Great first watch share.

Thanks CB!

Nice to meet you, too.

Welcome aboard!  Definitely a great enthusiast watch!

Whatever the Seiko 5 GMT is, it's not average.  Its a shot of pure horological joy.

Welcome!  Post more wrist shots!

I really dig this shot (my wife took) which captures the two-tone bezel.

Welcome to Watch Crunch and Enjoy! Great new GMT! I love Echo-Drive tech and mechanical watches as well. Gave my brother a Promaster Orca this Christmas.  He love  it. I am a Seikofile. I will never part with my Marine Master 300m.

Welcome! I feel like that orange GMT is going to become an affordable icon one day.

The orange dial is the easiest to find out of the three because very few people go for that bold color and I'm glad you did. Its just a fun watch to wear. I would have picked up an orange one too if I already didn't have a Presage GMT.

The blueberry is still not easy to get but the black version is more easy to find these days. Its got a second hour hand so it is a GMT, true or not is never the case.

Congratulations on the new watch. Get a few natos and a orange tropic strap, its really fun.

Love that orange GMT

Welcome

Welcome! Tried on one of those Seiko GMTs last week, really liked it. Hoping they might release more color options eventually, though that orange is awesome!

I imagine they will, given how many watches they make with the 4r35/4r36 movements and their unbranded offshoots (NHxx).  I'm sure they will release this movement into other watches outside the Seikosphere. Once the microbrands get ahold of it, there'll be a ton of options I guess.

I got the orange for two reasons: one, I have a bunch of black- and blue-dial watches, but my previous orange-dial watch (a Hugo Boss-branded quartz I got as a prize many years ago) died and wouldn't start up even with a new battery. I didn't bother to get it fixed because it had no lume (NONE, which I dislike) and I'm trying to get away from battery-powered quartz these days.

Thanks for all the watch-love, everyone!

Welcome! Nothing average about your taste in Citizens and Seiko’s! That is a great new GMT!

I think I used the term 'average' to describe the price points. I'm yet to get into a true 'luxury' watch, and everything I have in my watch collection has/had MSRPs under $1000 Canadian and was likely bought on sale. I live close to the Citizen Warehouse/Repair facility in Markham, Ontario, and they have a warehouse sale every December where they lay out a bunch of brand new, and some scratch&dent units, and sell them cheaper than most retailers + no provincial or federal tax applied.

Welcome. I see you have a nice Seiko... would you like another... step inside 😁

No kidding... They are all pretty great, and they are available everywhere.

·

That orange really pops!

looking forward to see further pieces of your collection.

Nice watch.

Welcome to WC!!!! That Seiko 5 in orange color is my favorite of those new GMT, if not because I already have other GMT´s I would probably buy it. It is important to comment that there are no average collections, because it fills you, so enjoy this beautiful hobby.
