I've looked at those, and agree it'd be a really great reissue candidate! The top mount crown and pushers would help it stand out from the rest of the vintage-inspired chrono crowd.ย
I'm still in love with my Seiko 5 "dressKX" (spre51). You can find them on sale for less than $200 pretty often!
Seiko also has a pretty extensive catalog of fun and unique pieces, many of which are vintage, that will still be serviceable by your local watchmaker.ย
Welcome to the hobby, and enjoy the journey!ย
Those are pretty interesting, and awesome to see vintage 5s getting some love! I think I've heard the 21 jewel movements are desirable. In the late-60s to 70s Seiko was peak case design in my opinion. I love the King Seikos of that era too, with their bold dial colors and exaggerated lugs (can't remember the specific references).ย
Itโs in the normal spot, but pretty much flush with the case. Some time Iโll put up a video showing how the day and date are set because itโs really abnormal (to me atleast).
I'm largely in the same boat @CombatWombat. Wish you the best in finding an entry-level role!
