Rough Desk vs. Smooth Bezels

My home desk came with my student apartment, which was great! The frames rough metal finish, not so much for watches… another victim was damaged today. Insert joke about first scratches from r/watchescirclejerk.

With that, however, and the realization I have packaging tape, come a great idea. Ladies and Gentlemen, the “Watch Saver” by Scotch 🤣.

What creative solutions have you made to your build environment to protect your watches? Or are the scratches from less cool stories are of the experience? I’d love to hear thoughts!

Wife and I took the kids to the playground.  They have this concrete table / bench there.  Wife was sitting down, and I came up behind her, and put my arms around her.  Hear this:  "Cruuuunnnncccchhhhh..."  Lug scraping against the concrete underside of the table.  Damn!  Wouldn't have minded, except for the fact that I was going to trade the watch back in to my dealer.  Dealer said, "Hey, no problem.  I can get someone to polish it out."  Took several hundred dollars off the trade-in value!

My heart would've stopped beating when this happened. Was this an SLGH005?

Nah, this was my Omega Aqua Terra Worldtimer.  It was an awesome watch, but the bracelet never fit right.  And this was before I realized that you could, you know, simply change out bracelets for straps!

Knowing what you know now, would you put it on the Aqua Terra rubber strap?

Oh, totally!  Knowing what I know now, I would have ordered it on rubber strap.  I absolutely loved the watch, but it just never fit right.  And I thought that was due to the 43mm diameter, so finally begrudgingly traded it in.

I wish I'd kept it.  If I had, I'd be happily wearing it today on rubber and leather strap!

I work all day at a desk, so desk diving scratches are a part of life. In an attempt to alleviate that issue, I use a small (5"x12") swatch of leather on my desk to rest my wrist on, and it seems to work really well.

I can also roll it up and easily take it with me to our weekly watch enthusiasts get-togethers, to prevent table scratches there as well.
