Watch Career Opportunities

I need some advice, I am due to graduate university this year with a degree in Marketing and would love to work in the watch industry. I am relatively new to this hobby but I'd like to think I am pretty knowledgeable about the industry and watch history. I have looked at some jobs but a lot of them require "3-5 years of experience". I would even gladly work in a luxury watch boutique as on several occasions I have known more than the salesperson working there 🙃. I was wondering if any of you out there have worked in this industry and would have some advice it would be so greatly appreciated.

Cheers love you bye ❤️

@CombatWombat have you tried getting in touch with The British Watch and Clock Makers Alliance? There may be opportunities there

How about reaching out to Paul Thorpe? Ex watch-dealer who might be able to point you in the right direction. https://watchdealers.com

The swatch group are pretty straightforward and I have found some good opportunities there

I'm largely in the same boat @CombatWombat. Wish you the best in finding an entry-level role!

Have you tried reaching out to @celinesimon?  She's an industry veteran, and I'd bet she'd have lots of valuable advice / guidance.

Yes! I would love to try and help. if you‘re comfortable, email me your resume (info at celine dash simon dot com) and I’ll get back to you soon with some ideas. I’m traveling tomorrow so it may take a few days, but I promise I’ll reply as soon as possible. Let’s do this!

You know, I randomly came across an open search for a paid internship with the boutique brand Direnzo with that had the intention of moving into a permanent position (dunno if that is the kinda thing you’d be interested in but thought I’d just throw it out there)

I don't work in the watch industry but do work in business and have a Comm degree. Do not let "3-5 years experience" deter you from applying. This is almost never an actual requirement and just something recruiters have become very accustomed to including in their listing. With the incredibly high demand for good people you never know who might give you a shot anyway.

Worst thing that happens is you don't hear back!
