Haul from N.A.W.C.C. Rocky Mountain Regional

Hey all!

It's been a while since I've posted, but attended by first NAWCC regional as an employed adult with money. What a dangerous rush watch buying is, truly! Also, highly recommend looking into the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) if you haven't. It's a much different experience than wristwatch-focused groups but worthwhile.

I went in intending to find an Accutron and succeeded! No idea on reference number or year, but can't wait to pop a battery in it and wear it. (Don't worry, tested with a battery out of another watch at the show, and it does run).

Then, well, things happened. The Constellation has been a bit of a fascination since I got into watches in 2020. This one had a pretty good price, so I went to lunch, thought about it, and the seller was packed up and leaving when I got back. First real impulse watch purchase. No regrets! [Edit: there are some regrets, see comments for details].

I don't know much about non-Speedy Omega in terms of movements and reference numbers (that said, thanks, @Max, for the great Constellation video you did). Taking the back off, it's a model 168.027 (sorry for the crappy photos, someone did it for me in a restaurant) with the caliber 564. Anything anyone knows about these, do share!

nice watch. that constellation is so much better than the new one, in my opinion

Nice model. I have the day-date version 169.029 with a 751 movement.

Me again. I’m no expert in any shape and form but when looking at the dial something seems off. Text seems to be printed with differerent size of each row. Different boldness of print for the different lines and the spelling ”chronometre” doesn’t seem right.

I'm in agreement on the dial for the Constellation. It appears to have been incorrectly refinished at some point.

Coming back to say thanks for pointing all of that out. Looks like I've paid a little bit for the impulse purchase 😕... that said, I'll still wear and enjoy it! Now I just have a new mission to find an original dial (if that's possible).
