Thin is apparently "in"

So I hated this earlier this week when we just saw renders of it, but I have to say it looks ultra cool on Charles Leclerc. Am I biased because he's my favorite F1 driver? Yes. Thoughts?

It looks more like a safety razor than a watch.

I'm super impressed with it from a technological standpoint, but the jury is still out on it's visual appeal.

Some on the jury are ready to vote.

I seem to recall much of the marketing photos featuring suits and the like, as if this were a dress watch. And there is the problem. What is it? It's a contest entry, temporary recordholder, but it successfully avoids any other use beyond ostentatious unobtainium  trinket du jour.

charles leclerc can pull it off easy. Watch is super cool imo def didn’t see RM going for the record

Does anyone have the contact info for Diesel lawyers? Asking for a friend (ahem, Bulgari). Thanks.

Exactly my first thought seeing it announced... "nice Diesel" 😂

Especially on the wrist! It brought back so many (unfortunate) early-2000s memories.

He is handsome enough to make a garbage bag shirt look good. That watch is hideous. They sell watches like that on alliexpress with cigarette lighters in them or 4 or 5 clocks.

·

Let's be real, this guy could wear a soup can on his wrist and still seem cool or at least acceptable.  Put that on a 58 year old overweight bald guy and you will see a different picture.  FYI, I'm that 58 year old guy.

·

Maybe it’s me, but I don’t think it looks good on him. Cool piece of micro engineering, but it is large in other dimensions.

Unlike what the luxury watch world wants to you believe, 58-year-old overweight bald guys fuel this industry. So, I thank you for keeping me employed. 🍻

Guess this tubby guy is going on the treadmill....

I'm not a fan! I do have a watch the same shape and size but I'm betting mine was a bit cheaper?

58 is a great age to be! All the best people are exactly that age for at least another six months!

·

It’s not a watch, it’s an exercise in thinness. And honestly, there’s just no joy in that.

·

Is he wearing his credit card on the wrist? Last trend for easy shopping, ah? Very user friendly, thanks RM!

I do like thin, though I wouldn't feel confident of the strength of this even if it cost 1000th of the price (I know they've made it super strong, but still), but the looks really let this down. The movement module on its own looks great!. I think the Bulgari Octo Finissimo looks much better - or, for an extra 2mm or so, this Vacheron (Patrimony Contemporaine - not my pic, as if I could afford this 😭):

I'm not sure it's a wristwatch if it lacks keyless works.  Just saying.

·

Reminds me of this watch that was (shortly) featured on the Caseback Watches Youtube channel today:

·

Hey, I’ll never be afforded the chance to buy one, much less be able to afford it! 😂🤣

·

That's a hot watch...so long as it's being worn by that hotter dude. True man love is not wasted on me...but an otherwise ostentatiously-absurd demonstration of the wafer-thin haves and have-nots is.

·

Yeah, it’s thin, but it is very ugly and I wouldn’t wear it. Ever. Give me the Bvlgari, the former champ of thinness, every time.

·

Looks pretty dope, but due to how long it is, I would be afraid to bend the watch in half if i were to bend my wrist towards the front

Stop feeding (winding) it, let it fast for a while 😂

I'll go with the Piaget Ultra Plano

·

Well, if you have a spare $2M, I guess thin is in...

This is not a comment about watches ;)
