I am frothing at the mouth

A new watch due to be delivered today, all the way from Japan even. I stayed in, monitored my phone and computer tracking it all the way. I even wrote a piece about to show you all my new watch. Low and behold on the map the van is in my road, I run to the front door and the usual "sorry we missed you" card on the floor under my letter box. I then spent the next hour on the phone to DHL trying to speak to a human, I did consider a medium as this might be better. Maybe tomorrow ! Trying very hard not to swear like a docker when writing this post. Ahh such is life, I should expect it by now !😂

Better luck tomorrow mate 🍀

That’s deliveries!

I had an email on Monday saying “parcel delivered - signed for (by me)”. But no-one had called, and I certainly hadn’t signed.

Turned out they had delivered to wrong address, in a different part of town! Ended ok though.

·

That sucks, I hope they get it to you soon!

·

Argh!! I hate that!! I have my daughter standing by today as well since I have a delivery myself too!!

·

I know your pain! I've found Evri to be the worst of the lot with my parcels sitting in their depot for over a week because I asked for it to be dropped off at a collection point.

·

At least they're not saying it was delivered when it wasn't (which has happened to me twice). I hope it arrives tomorrow. 🤞

·

When I see DHL I always have a slight sinking feeling especially international. Best to just turn up at their depot collection point. They're much better face to face.

·

Sorry to hear that. I've had several packages from DHL over the years, and my experience is that they tend to be better than the alternatives.

·

That sucks mate. How frustrating 😑

·

This has happened to me as well. I have a Ring Doorbell and I literally have my home workstation next to the front door and those sneaky B’s are wearing some type of cloak of invisibility or something and I got the same thing. So annoying.

As a postie I can confirm evri are shockingly bad, it reminds me of the old game Paperboy.

·

We've all had that happen...one of the most annoying things you can experience...Ring helps a ton but you have to move quick...when our Christmas watches arrived we almost crashed into each other sprinting for the door 😂

·

That's weird. I can't seem to have a package delivered without a huge truck rumbling down the street, loud knocking, doorbell ringing, dogs barking in the house and all through the neighborhood.

I've also had the best service of all with DHL.

Your probably right, I did get out of the bed a different side today. Happens, I have calmed somewhat.

·

First world problem, but I know the feeling 😂

·

It’s always the vacuum bags that show up next day delivered with care. Cell phones and watches, collectables, it’s a circus

·

Let it out mate. Scream it into a pillow. Like a roborative vomit, better out than in. I can’t wait to see it tomorrow.

At least they didn't deliver to your neighbor...

I live in an affluent gated community...my neighbors are from another country (that I will not name)...

Every time a package of mine is delivered to my neighbor by incompetant DHL, UPS or FedEx drivers...they keep the packages and refuse to answer the door.

Most of the time, I just give up when it's a large order of TP, a sewing kit, DVDs or CDs...just isn't worth the effort. However, I have had to stand at the door for a very long period when a more important package was delivered.

They tried the "we don't speak English" scam...I just flashed the picture from the delivery company showing the package on their doorstep and demanded it be handed over or I would contact the police. They finally handed it over.

FedEx did it again last week...it was an incredibly expensive package. Fortunately, my sister-in-law was at the house and was able to run over next door and take the several packages from their doorstep before they could steal them.

So just be glad you only have to wait for the package...

I have noticed a massive increase in incompetance of delivery services this year...many are subcontracting out to gig workers delivering in their own cars (which can be kind of scary when they ring the doorbell...do I really want to open the door to this unknown person?)

That sounds like a really bad experience with your neighbours. Glad you got at least the important packages back from them.

Its an entry level watch 😁

·

We all know this pain. And I try to avoid DHL like the plague. Maybe that wasn't an option in your case, but I've had very bad experience.

·

DHL sucks 🤬

They’ve got one on my watches in purgatory as well. Arg, so stressful 😩

And not an inexpensive watch either 😖

·

After purchase, DHL sends an email and text asking for delivery instructions. I always opt for signature release. Been in your shoes with the same story. Good luck. 👍

·

Yeah, not fun. Especially if you are literally there waiting. Prior to 2020, if it was critical, I shipped it to the office.

·

UPDATE !!! Arrived today at 5.15pm ish Yay

·

That is a classic, had this also several times, but once the watch is in tour hands, you forget about it, enjoy

That absolutely stinks. You would think in an affluent gated community . . .

It's important to have a functional neighborhood where the people living there look out for each other, instead of looking for what they can steal. Good for you for saying you would call the police. I hoped that stopped their criminal behavior. And as for them saying "no speak English", how did they become affluent in America if they can't speak the language? Yeah, that's a scam.

Some of my neighbors have BIG mailboxes. Have you seen those? They would hold your DVD or CD orders.

Speaking to your last paragraph, I came home one evening and as I was getting out of my car I saw this quite attractive young woman coming off my porch. I thought right away that something was wrong. Then she smiled and waved at me. Then I knew something was wrong. She zipped across my yard and got into this old Nissan sedan and drove away. When I came up on the porch I had a package there.

There's no accounting for the evil things people do. If someone really needed money, man I would be there to help.

There has been so much need in the past few years and I've helped friends pay their rent when the Covid funds ran dry, helped fund cancer treatments, paid for friend's funerals, etc.

I know there are many folks who have done way more than me both with their time and money...just trying to improve my little square of earth.

What you reap you sow...I don't wish ill on these people as they will really bring it on themselves...I rather wish they would find the good in themselves so they can lead a more joyful successful life.

·

That's good on you to help your neighbors out. We've got a really despicable scam going on in our church neighborhood. We take care of about 12 city blocks and help pay rent and utilities. Not monthly bills, but if you get really behind, a couple thousand or so, we'll make a one time payment. If we can't handle all of it, an email goes out and the other Catholic churches pitch in and help out.

But now our little neighborhood is getting hit with homelessness. This is really bad because while we have the $$$ to help with the deposit and get you situated, there are no empty houses or apartments. So if something becomes available, you have to act really fast. Somehow these scammers are making contact with our people and saying that they have a property for rent, send the deposit to so-and-so asap, then there is no property.

There's only one timeless way to combat all this and you're already doing it. That's to help on a one-to-one level. We are making some progress in the city but covid set things back years and we still haven't caught up. It's still difficult for someone with some kind of meaningful work and spiritual connection to get by, nearly impossible for somebody who doesn't have those things.

I have a RING door bell, but they still knock on the door and run away. Honestly, it's like they don't want you to receive your parcels
