Titanium Watches

Don't own one neither yet, but my next is gonna be a titanium for sure. I have the Citizen PMD56 in my radar for now, but still looking around. I love RZE's proposition, but something with the handset and the dial keeps me from pulling the trigger. Happy to have your feedback on the Resolute !

·

I own the watch pictured, the SBGA413. After I first tried it on, I had a hard time going back to steel. So far at least it's my only titanium watch, but it is the one I wear the most.

·

I own the same GS in the photo and it’s an incredible watch. From craftsmanship, to the movement, the finishing, and fit. First titanium watch as well and I love it. It’s nice to have variety in the collection.

I currently have a few...

RZE Valour

Scurfa Diver One

Momentum Atlas

A couple modded G-shocks, can't find a picture, maybe when I get back home I'll take one.

I regret selling the OG Citizen Orca

That mint green RZE looks pretty cool, hopefully you will enjoy it!

·

I currently own two titanium watches. The first is the Seiko SGG731

Image

The other is the CIGA Design Z

·

I do not own one, nor do I plan to.  I do wear a titanium wedding ring.

·

I've got two. Both Citizen eco drives. One twenty years old (Skyhawk) and one less than a year (Ray Mears). The Ray Mears in particular is very light yet built to take a beating.

I have these two:

Just one

Love it.

Been looking at a Seiko sarx057 recently.  We will see

Grand Seiko SBGA445 (not SBGA415, I wrote about it here) It’s awesome - the top two complaints about this watch are lightness and the power reserve indicator, both of which are positives for me.

·

I have the Casio Ray Mears and love it , currently on  luna pilot strap. Also a small Seiko solar module that I inherited from my father In law .. both very comfortable and useable pieces.

·

I've got an RZE Endeavor and a Citizen BN0200-56E. And, I am awaiting a Citizen BM8560-53E that I ordered over the weekend.

·

I have the Tudor Pelagos 39. So comfortable on the wrist

·

I have an Omega Speedmaster Professional  X-33 Skywalker in titanium. Even though it's a large watch, it wears wonderfully thanks in large part to the light weight.

Titanium and Stainless Steel are the best material for watch cases. Platinum and Gold are softer and more subject to scratching and patina(tarnish).  Bronze, Brass, Silver, Aluminum are too soft and oxidize. Bioceramic, plastic and wood are just recycled waste products.

They made a spring bar version once? I thought all had fixed lugs.

Yep, they made a version with the normal spring bars. Not sure how long or how many they made, but I've never seen another one like it.

It used to have the silver dial in it. But the movement started to act wonky, so I put the green dial and movement in.

·

I have owned three.

A Christopher Ward that I gifted to my oldest son after having it around six months.

GS Snowflake, I sold something like six months after I bought it.

And I just got the Zelos Aurora...

Not so much. My titanium watches are all divers that get wet in the ocean regularly, so the scratches bother me about as much as a scratch on the fibreglass of my surfboard.

Apparently grade is not the only factor involved. Citizen have “super titanium “ which is treated to reduce scratching.
I have an IWC 3536-1 which is over 20 years old without a single scratch! I’m not sure of its grade but it’s scratch resistance is due to its treatment. Michael Stockton of Fratello wrote “The outer side of the bracelet, like the watchcase, contains a blasted finish and is hardened to 2400 Vickers. If that latter part means little to you, that’s the same hardness as tungsten carbide – yeah, the drill bits you’d use for piercing masonry.” Its far more scratch resistant than any of my steel watches. However, it may also be grade 5, I haven’t got a clue about that.

So for me grade 2 vs grade 5 is no biggy with my titanium watches HOWEVER if I had your insanely beautiful Ming I would absolutely want grade 5. I could not wear that as a tool watch, to me it’s more of stunning sculptural work of art for the wrist!

Yeah the Ming is definitely not tool.  The design aesthetic is pretty cool but it lives a pampered life.

For something more robust but still a bit different I have the tegimented u50.  A great tool watch that can take a beating.

In addition to the GS SBGA413 Four Seasons Shunbun (Spring), I have the Omega Aqua Terra Good Planet (38.5mm, there is also a larger GMT Good Planet), a really refreshing change to the Omega scenery.

·

I would check out LIV watches, modern, sexy, colorful , Swiss movements, and titanium (not all) but some

watchobsessed

I’ve considered buying this exact model, but I’ve always pulled back because I wish the numerals were a different color than the rest of the dial. Add an accent color and I would own this watch tomorrow!

the titanium dial was the reason i went for it. it's just so unique. but if you just want one everyday watch than it's probably too monotonous.

Ti Seiko - love it!  Looking to add more Ti watches in the collection.  I'm often doing sports and riding a bike, lighter watches just feel better to me.

Nice shot. Seems like every brand others a Ti option… even Seiko

My titanium watches in order of acquisition:

  • Victorinox quartz field watch (fixed bezel)
  • Seiko solar air diver
  • The Citizen Chronomaster Eco-Drive
·

Fun fact: the most famous owner of a titanium watch is ... German ex-chancellor Angela Merkel, once voted the most powerful woman in the world.  She rocks a 89€ Boccia.

#citizen watches seem to be very reliable. Still looking for the one that speaks to me
