Women's Watches

Have you guys ever liked or wanted a woman's watch because of the design, but you didn't get it just because it's a woman's watch?

Nope. I’d rock a women’s watch, no problem. Been wanting this for some time now.

Never because it was a women’s watch, but because the size. Have bought and would have no issue buying watches that are supposed to be marketed at women. There are some awesome G-Shocks that are labeled women’s that fit a 6.5-7” wrist amazingly.

Yes to the first part, although really I seek the smaller size as much as anything, no to exclusion solely because it identifies as a female watch.

The triumvirate of grrrl watch tells seem to be jewels, pink, and very narrow bands. There is some point around 30mm where it may be small even by my standards. This Casio seems about on par sizewise with the vintage rectangle I have. Lug width is unknown but it's probably 16mm or greater, with which I'm fine.

·

No, but I've liked some enough that I've bought them for the Mrs!

·

Nope! In fact, I am really considering one of the new 36mm Citizen Promaster Divers, even though Citizen has them listed as a woman's watch. My only hesitation is that I already have a Promaster Diver BN0150-28E, and I have a hard time justifying getting another one. Maybe I will sell my current one and get the smaller one. 😁

A watch would have to lean really heavily into being a women's watch for me to not consider it.

For instance, I would wear this: https://www.watchcrunch.com/UnholiestJedi/posts/would-you-wear-this-watch-18342

As a woman, obviously I don’t mind a women’s watch but there are generally more eye catching designs for men. I do buy watches for men too. I guess I have a unisex collection? Haha

·

I don't care at all.

Most the guys in this forum would wear women's panties if they had a tourbillion.

i bought the same model casio 😂😂. trust me it is too small even for my small wrist, i love the design and the price but i giving this casio to my gf

I’m a woman who wears men’s watches sometimes, and I definitely think men can rock women’s watches if they want to! If you like it, wear it!

I've got a square vintage Waltham manual wind that's smaller than that....and it's a man's watch. Times and fashion change. That doesn't look excessively small for that style of watch to my eyes.

There is a smaller metal G-Shock they list as a woman's watch I'd wear. Same with certain Cartier tanks. Also, this Bulova Frank Lloyd Wright tank

As a woman it’s the other way around, I wanted almost all watches from the men’s category but I didn’t get it because it’s too big for me. What can I say, I have curse of an itty bitty wrist 🥹But honestly, if you ask me there’s nothing wrong with men wearing women’s watches. If you feel comfortable and you love then go for it. 😊

As someone comments have already stated, there's a few issues with women's watches:

1) Typically much smaller size

2) Different proportions (often fine case size but tiny band/bracelet)

3) Often very blingy covered in jewels

4) Much smaller variety (they are treated more as jewelry than horology)

5) typically worse value for money compared to men's watches

So when it's a true women's watch I'll avoid it, but for unisex designs (or sometimes full on masculine) that simply have a smaller case I'll go for (like the 36mm bambino which was marketed as a women's watch)

I’m going to start suggesting to random strangers that whatever they’re wearing would be better with a tourbillion.

I’ve looked into that Casio. I like it a lot, but it’s just too small for me. I missed out on the reasonably priced larger models. I have a Rotary Cambridge, a Kingsbury Ambassador, and a Bulova Breton for when I feel the need to wear a rectangle watch.

I have the Rotary Cambridge as well, I've heard of Kingsbury before but don't have much experience with them, how is the Ambassador?

This Reverso Medium Thin is also marketed as a woman’s watch

I have a friend who drops off his stack free glossy mags through my front door mail slot whenever he is going to area bar. I take a quick look before recycling the publications, lots of watch ads and articles but it was in a journal for women readers saw a write up about Chanel La Pausa J12 watch. Thought it could be a super anniversary gift for my long suffering wife( how can she object to my hobby when I am giving her a gift of Chanel?). She notices my attention reading a women’s magazine and knows me well enough to know that it is watch related. Tells me to forget it, she doesn’t want another watch present. I decided to investigate anyways: Mission Impossible, forget the crazy price there might be 12 models for sale in boutiques across Canada according a fella who used to work for Chanel Canada. I guess we’ll step out to a nice dinner.

I never look for women’s vs men’s watches. Always look at the size. I purchased a Hamilton Boulton that is advertised as “women’s” watch, but the size is more true to vintage men’s sizes. As a vintage-inspired design, I wanted the vintage size to match. IMO vintage designs and modern over-sizing do not mesh well.

I have seen a friend being told that he shouldn't buy a 36mm Rolex because it was a woman's watch. I have seen a girlfriend being told she was wearing a man's watch while wearing a 36mm Rolex.

Wear what you like! Most of my shoes come from the kids' section.

·

Yea I wear two of my wife’s Casio’s when I want a smaller watch on my wrist for a change.

The Ambassador is the largest of the three watches I mentioned, and it certainly has "presence," but it is a good-looking, well made watch, especially for the price. The Ambassador also has a Seiko NH-05 movement, which is a smaller version of the NH-35 for use in smaller watches.

its an old british brand but nowaday rotary is owned by chinese citychamp group and more focused on the affordable models (many of them are homage). as you can see by the dial of this particular model my dream watch is a jlc reverso but its impossible to buy right now 😂

The Reverso is a great funky watch. Hope you get there eventually! Thanks for the conversation.

I went for a cartier as well even though it may be more of a women's brand/design... it goes well on more dressy occasions
