Which watch would you NEVER buy?

Since learning about the holy trinity I yearned to join that exclusive club, and the only thing that stopped me is that I can't afford any of them. However, I recently had the chance to try on a Nautilus and it is hard to say just how underwhelmed I was. Same for the Royal Oak, but that did feel better quality than the flimsy Nautilus.

Royal Oak. 25k and can’t even go on a tropical vacation with that bitch unless you stay dry.

·

Royal Oak, it has nothing to do with price, the design is so dated. It’s always reminded me of a watch porn stars would wear.

·

Royal Oak, because AP have become a one trick pony. Neither it nor Nautilus appeal, but PP have other designs, as do VC.

·

If I could have voted for two, I would have voted Nautilus and the Royal Oak.

The Royal Oak just doesn't appeal to me looks wise, and I have an aversion to things that celebrities tend to like. Irrational, perhaps, but that's how I feel.

The Nautilus is absolutely ugly, IMO. If I was gifted one I'd sell it and buy a Skydweller! LOL

Now...the Overseas? A rose gold Overseas with the blue dial is a grail watch of mine! Gorgeous!

·

I think you mean that you would never buy ALL of the above.

People will say that some gold or two-tone Rolex is an old man's watch, but it's for tasteful old men. These vampiric disco ball watches are for old men who refuse to age gracefully and look as try-hard and creepy as can be. I think the Overseas is more current, but it's also too deliberately distinctive and not really attractive.

·

I personally wouldn’t buy any of them, the Royal Oak reminds me of that day in elementary school when we chiseled out a brick in science class to find the hidden bird feather. The Nautilus is “Big Hat and no cattle” the Overseas is the only one I’d consider sans the pimped out bezel, a watch that just does what it’s supposed to.

Love the Nautalis, partly because I remember the contempory advertising that emphasised the Naughties sporting poweress, the RO has the (originally) functionless screws, was worn by nightclub ponses, Italian playboys and was (is) notoriously fragile, the "UR ME Brutal" styling is trying too hard and in the music scene you meet far too many cnuts wearing them for it to be a complete coincidence.....see also eurotrash and Hublot🤣

The RO is "Meet The Beatles" The Naughtie is Abbey Road.

·

The overseas calls to me lol. I love the look of it so much. I’m curious to hold and touch a Nautilus, but it’s not a must-have by for me at all

·

I Will never Purchase an Invicta or San Martin...

·

I'd buy and wear all 3. There are some "big hitters" and classic watches I wouldn't wear but we all like what we like and dislike what we don't…

·

Where's my option for all 3? I don't like any Genta watches.

·

I dislike the Nautilus & the Royal Oak, I just find them both ugly watches. Not that it matters as I'd never spend that kind of money on a watch. The VC Overseas however I really do like a lot, I think it's a beautiful dress watch. I did contemplate selling some of my higher value watches to get one but I just can't justify the cost for 1 watch, particularly when I know 6 months later there'll be something else I'd want to replace it.

·

For me the Nautilus has always been a "meh." Alm!ost every Royal Oak except the basic "entry level" is a meh as well. Love the blue dial VC Overseas. But unless I win the lottery, none will ever grace my watch box.

·

I have tried on the overseas and really like it.

However I went to an AP dealer and I simply completely dislike their entire collection. I find it not elegant and tacky. The royal oak is the one I like but because of how the brand comes across overall I simply would never want to be a part of it.

·

I’d go Vc then RO but not interested in the PP. now almost anything else they make would without doubt go above the Royal Oak and fight the overseas for my attention. I have a soft spot for anything VC and I’m just one large lotto win away from getting one 😊

·

Royal Oak by a country mile. Big, unrefined brute.

·

I would not buy either of these watches, ever. I don't find them attractive and these tacky old men brands aren't aspirational at all for me.

·

Would, or Could!? I doubt I’ll ever have the funds for a Nautilus. But RoyalOak/Offshore seem slightly more obtainable.

·

I have a visceral revulsion towards the APRO. The Nautilus is not far behind.

I do like the Overseas but I think I would be just as happy with a FiftySix at half the price.

·

Poor guy was going to buy a $15,000 one in here.

Didn’t have the heart to tell him an Omega is cheaper and higher quality. As his wife was there also

Ah yes, the gold Royal Oak - official watch of porn stars from the 1980's. I will never be able to see it as anything else now!

I don't think it is irrational to dislike something celebrities tend to like - it is more likely that celebrities trying to impress others have poor taste.

·

It seems most people here would not consider a Nautilus or Royal Oak, but there is still some love for the Overseas. I agree with you all, yet, most watch reviewers seem to rave on and on about both the Nautilus and Royal Oak, I just don't get it.

AP is not a one trick pony. What about the code 11.59, the star wheel ect

For me, if I got an Overseas or Nautilus, then all four would have to be in the collection.

Most Rolex watches. Beautifully made... I just hate Mercedes hands. Maybe a Milgauss though
