Chaotic Collector - SOTC

I've enjoyed this communitity and am finally putting out my first post, here it goes..

Yeah, in 2020 during lockdown I took the red pill an fell down the rabbit hole into Chaos. In the 15 year before that I had one watch, my Citizen Promaster Skyhawk A-T Blue Angles Edition. I am fascinated with tech and it is packed full.

Then in 2020, due to seeing adds on-line, I started investigating watches and became more drawn to these little machines. Since I knew Citzen, that was my staring point. Eco-drive just made sense and cool tech. This lead to more research and my first automatic Hamilton Khaki Auto. Then to Micro-brands and cool dials, then divers, and eventually to my grail, The Omega Speedmaster Professional.

Feel like I'm all over the place and am not sure where this journey goes next, but I do have an anordain build slot for the end of the year ;-)

Lol, please provide any thoughts you may have (be kind..) about where the collection stands and where to go next, thanks.

Also, not sure how you guys take such good photos, I had a heck of a time, lol.

You are certainly building a collection that’s unique to you. The CIGA and Anordain are interesting choices going forward. I like how you are going off the beaten path and finding different things you like.

Thanks, its a journey. I moved from tech focus to looking for unique pieces with good value and a good story. With that in mind Longines and maybe another Hamilton are interesting.

Agreed, great advice, tastes do change and you end up not looking at some of the pieces the same, while others still stand out. Sadly some may need to move on because my focus now is good value. Thanks again!

I set up my collection in tiers, where I try to explore the various watches at different price points or from different regions. I get ~3 and move up to the next tier. I’m new in my collecting, so hopefully this gives me the experience I need to make better decisions as I move up in price.

While my next piece will be the Speedy Pro, I have left room to go back and explore G-Shock…something I basically skipped over early on.

What next? I’d recommend placing your watches in some sort of smaller collections and see where you have holes, however you categorize them. See if something stands out.

Nice.... Remember, lots of pictures, ok?

I don't have a single Citizen watchin my collection, despite wearing a Titanium eco-drive for close to 7 years in the past. Maybe it's time for me to remediate this situation.

·

You took the red pill :)

·

Welcome to the club!

·

Blue pill!! Is this the side effects of Viagra???

·

You're doing it right. Collect those that appeal to you, rather than being constrained by parameters. Enjoy!

In my oppinion its hard to compete with the value. 2nd picture, bottom mid, is the Citizen Titanium Satellite Wave Eco-drive (CC4004-58E). Does it all, could be a one watch collection piece.

Lol, you are correct. Thanks, just made a quick edit.

Welcome to the crunch! That is certainly an eclectic collection you have there! A bit too busy for me but I love that there seems to be not too much planning an concept behind it, just like my own collection! I do miss a another nice dress watch, are you interested in those?

It's not so much a question of value but style. I visit Citizen site occasionally and watch YT reviews, but so far I didn't find anything that catch my attention.

I think you have identified the hole in my collection. Been dressing up the Omega with the right strap for those occasions but, yeah, a nice dress watch is on the list, Thanks!

I think the Bulova is a very nice one too for that purpose and don't forget the freaky CIGA! That's always a conversation starter.

Great collection! Love seeing them all together! The Zelos is an amazing looking watch. You've got some great watches!

·

Thank you sir!

·

Great Collection. So now that you've got your grail, the next thing is to grade your other grails as in Luxury Grail, Affordable Grail or Diver Grail, Dress Grail etc......NOT. 😜
