NWA First Automatic!

I’ve been searching for my first “real” watch for a few months. I have a g-shock my dad gave me, a cheap Timex, and an even cheaper Casio from walmart….but this Seiko SNZG15 arrived today!

This is a celebration watch for a personal accomplishment that I never thought I would do. I lost 100 lbs over 6 months and treated myself to something nice.

Debated between the Hamilton 42mm khaki but this was in my price range. Kinda like the idea of cheaper watches and for me and my current situation plus this is the amount I could justify spending. I like this model over the previous model as well as the most recent offerings from Seiko. It has a 42mm dial……whereas all the other Seiko Fields are smaller. (8in wrist but shrinking!!) Just a few months ago this wouldn’t have fit on my wrist!

I decided on a field watch because it fits the “theme.” To develop healthy habits, I have been hiking and spending more time outdoors for exercise. The idea of a field watch that can go with me on my hiking journeys really seemed fitting.

Picked up a brown leather band and also a green canvas strap. Love them both. Black band that came with it isn’t bad but prefer quick release.

Anyway, here’s to a healthy future, full of hikes, walks, and stolls through life (and nature).

**Soapbox** I’m sure there are people that are in similar situations to where I was. Happy to message and encourage you to start. Hardest part is just starting! If I can do it so can you! Hit me up!

Welcome to the party my guy!

·

Congratulations! You chose a very attractive watch! 🏆🏆🏆

·

Congrats on the watch and more importantly on your awesome accomplishment 👍

·

Damn good choice

·

Good pick! If that strap is feeling a bit tight, or not quite right, I reckon it would look good on a nice nato - probably tan or army green, picking up on the field vibe.

From one big wrist to another :)

Nice work homeboy! Enjoy it!

You may find, as you go on in the watch hobby, if you eventually DO buy a nicer watch, Hamilton, Glycine, Tissot, Bulova etc., that you may, just MAY, find yourself thinking, "Dang, I shoulda done this sooner, then maybe I wouldn't have wasted so much money on cheap watches...

·

Congratulations JS! I should follow you lead. Got 50% of that covered. 😄

Very well deserved and keep up these healthy habits! Dont forget to enjoy the 'unhealthy' habit of biying watches 😜🎉

·

Congratulations to your achievement! As a Nutrition Scientist (who weight 160 kg 40 years ago) I know how hard it is to change one's lifestyle so drastic. You can really be proud!

·

Great job with the weight loss! Keep up the great work!

The snzg15 is a great watch! It'll run forever and is a fantastic choice to take on all your adventures.

Congratulations on the achievement and the watch! Great choice.

PS. I'd say the G-Shock/Casio, and Timex are all "real" watches too! Enjoy the first mechanical 😃

You’re right. I could have phrased it differently. Thanks!

·

Congratulations 🎉.

Valid….but…”cheap” is a relative term. My definition of cheap might be diffferent than yours.

This is awesome to hear - what an achievement! I’m also working on making positive changes to my health - more exercise, a healthier diet (pescatarian) and it is not easy!

Had to look that one up! From my journey, the physical side of healthy was easy….the exercise and dealing with some times of hunger etc…The hardest part for me was the mental and emotion side. Saying no or even saying yes with the decision on how much….etc.

That being said, humans are capable of more than we think and when we take control of the mental side, the rest falls into place! You got this!
