Which watch started your collection?

There’s something special to me about the first piece that started my watch collecting journey. Maybe all collectors harbor romanticism about their first addition.

What watch started your journey?

I love seeing your pics so post it up!

I always wore Casio F-91Ws until they broke & were replaced but this GA-2100 was the first watch that started me collecting, buying multiple different watches.

This is the watch that started my whole collection journey. It never would’ve happened without this one.

First automatic was an anniversary gift from my wife. Still have it.

It's the SNK809 for me. I have since modded it by putting it in a black pvd Seiko 5 case and swapped the movement to an NH36

A Timex automatic bought from a Rexall Drug store sometime in the early 60's. Long gone and no pictures since my Kodak Brownie camera was on the fritz.

A Timex Dynabeat bought when I was a punk of 12 or so. Released it from a shoebox in my closet after 40+ years. Sadly, beyond repair now

Two watches started my watch journey. Both quartz. First was my daily driver, a Citizen. Second a Bulova. I'd had both for several years, plus a couple of G-shocks. One day, while adjusting the Citizen for DST I pulled the crown clean out of the case! No big deal, I started wearing the Bulova as my daily, which lasted for about a week until I scratched the domed mineral crystal really really bad on a brick wall. Not wanting to wear a G-Shock as my daily driver, away to the interwebs I went to shop for a new watch.

And that's when I discovered two things: scratch proof sapphire crystal and automatic movements. Never knew either was a thing! So, I started digging a little deeper and fell down the watch rabbit hole. In a matter of months, I had purchased a Phoibos Sub homage, three or four Seikos and a Steinhart. That was 2017/2018. Fast forward to 2024...and fifty plus watches later and I still haven't found my way out of the watch rabbit hole!

1983 Seiko Turtle, long ago lost. Here is the "replacement". This one is a 6306 JDM, originally I had a 6309 international model.

In an incredibly oroginal move, I started with an SKX.

Trusty G-Shock. Was my one and done for around 8 years before I started collecting. Don’t wear much anymore but will always be part of my collection.

Mine was my Fitbit. I've had watches before, but didn't get interested in them as a hobby until I started developing Fitbit watch faces.

It wasn’t actually my watch at the time, which started my curiosity in watches - it was my father’s Seiko 7548 which he wore religiously for most of my life.
