Hamilton Field - Bronze or no Bronze?

So i have decided i need something a little more understated for my daily work driver. I have a custom seiko GMT that i usually wear, but its a little flashy for work at times (im a casual dressing accountant).

I have landed on the Hamilton Field Mechanical Bronze. I love the watch, but if im looking for something less flashy, i am wondering if Bronze is the way to go.

What do you guys think?

In my personal opinion I think going with the original non bronze would be the way to go. Easier to match with your outfits too.

·

Orginal bronze is easy to love in the beginning, harder to appreciate in the long run for myself.

·

That bronze looks really good!

·

I’d say steel with a nice leather strap to dress it up a bit for the office.

·

I don't normally do 'brown' in any of it's guises but that bronze looks amazing, given the choice, 100% the bronze one.

·

Just ordered my first full bronze watch from Baltic because of how much I love the bronze bezel and crowns on my Raymond Weil

I don’t think it will be too flashy at all just remember it will patina, though you can remove that.

·

My normal answer is that only you can decide. I have the original steel version. My personal reflection of the watch is that I’m really fond of it but despite the fact that I normally don’t feel comfortable with nato straps, on the Khaki Field I have it on. Imo the lugs are too long to make a 2-piece strap look good.

What you got for lizard skin Cowboy boots? 🤣

Baltic makes a beautiful bronze. Their bronze Aquascaphe is GREAT!

Dang nice looking watch that RW is, far from the Parsifal of yester

·

Why go steel when you can green smelly wrists included in the price of the bronze one?

·

The bronze is wicked cool & I would get it for myself, but the original steel is way less flashy.

·

I recently bought a bronze Norqain and it has become soft enough and less flashy givent he patina, you’ll be fine in the office, that bronze Hamilton is a looker and a bargain. You can get a Seiko 5 steel Watch brushed if you want the look and end up with two watches, harder to replicate the bronze under budget.

Mine has darkened a bit more, this was 1 week in, no recent pictures. It’s almost plateaued now regarding the patina, I’ve had it in fresh, pool and saltwater. Wear it to the office 1-2 week as well.

·

I vote for the non bronze

I got hold of the Bronze a little while back, and although I don’t wear it daily, it always makes me smile when I put it on. Autum, worn in boots, wax jackets, the bronze always gets more wrist time. I’ve a SS 38mm Hammy Auto to play with all my natos with.

Usual work wear.

If it bronze you will get a blue-green colour as patination takes place. You need to consider it will change colour over time. Which can be a good thing as if you want the look of the watch to change over time.

I am one of those kooky people do not like NATO straps. I tossed mine on a Crafter Blue rubber strap I had laying around (that happens with 22mm straps) The strap is a little long but feels and looks better than a NATO IMO

·

Either way. I have came to like bronze since my DIY custome nh35

The patina is growing on me. Well it’s growing on the case but I’m growing…you get the point

Looks good my friend👍

·

No bronze. There is something wonderfully traditional about the simple military look that I find historic and iconic!

Thank you! An expensive strap for this little watch but ot works

·

I think it’s either a case of thinking “it’s different so it must be flashy,”or they’re thinking of Day 0 press photo/store display case bronze - which can be bright -not Day 365 bronze, after it has dulled from some patina.

Yours looks great!

·

I’d go with the steel on a leather strap just because bronze watches tend to leave a green deposit on the skin and develop a particular type of patina(don’t like it very much) which may not be ideal for an office watch.

·

Bronze looks cool in pics, but I'm sure it's a PITA IRL. Green wrists & corroded watch look naff imho.

·

Neither is even a little flashy, even for a casual accountant. I’d step it up a bit with the Hammy Khaki Field Automatic. It has a bit of polish on the bezel. 😉

Its odd, but the automatic does nothing for me, Even in the same 38mm size.
