Bergeron Casback Opener

Has anyone used this? Does it really work?

Yes. In use, these balls apply friction and pressure to the caseback, allowing them to be screwed in or unscrewed.

They are less likely to work on casebacks that are tightly secured, but are generally quite functional.

There’s nothing special about the Bergeon-branded one as far as I’m aware. Others should work just as well.

Vintage Watch on YouTube uses it all the time. https://youtube.com/@VintageWatchServices?si=GUNj7o6a-63it0tb

Mine was €3 on AliExpress. It works just fine.

·

Works an most Rolex screw casebacks

·

I use the generic, non-branded version and it's saved me so much time and effort. 10/10 recommend!

·

they work great

·

I bought it, never believed it would work. Lo & behold it jolly well did 😀

·

Has worked for me on most vintage casebacks. There have been a few I needed to get started (“unstuck”) with tool but the rubber ball cannot scratch, FTW!

·

It won't work on something that had been tightened down with a wrench. I had to stop by my local watch shop to get my Bambino car back off. Once it was off, it did an ok job if tightening it down. Would work better if I had a case holder to give a better grip.

·

They work well, but occasionally I come across a watch that needs a little more, so I resort to one of the wrench-type openers. With those I use a plastic bag to avoid scratching the caseback or watch if I slip.

·

I find that thumbs work just as well, and when not, proper tool comes out of the drawer

·

I have a lot of balls too, bergeon...🦈

·

It works sometimes for me. It's not a replacement for a proper tool but once the caseback is started the 8008 ball will make unscrewing and reinserting the back much easier. IMO.

·

Works great. Just keep it clean for maximum gripping force.

·

Yes. I don’t have one exactly but a small rubber ball works…

·

Thanks everyone for the feedback!!!!!

·

Sip, funciona.... Aunque cualquier pelota de goma de niño también 😂 😂 😂 😂 también he usado una ventosa como las de ventanas de auto...

·

8008 .... Cheeky!

·

Yes. It works. Not always. Depends on how tight the caseback actually is.

Same here, works a treat, and can be used on most (if not all) case back types

·

It does.

·

Yup!

·

Yup. Seems silly, but it definitely works unless the case back is on there really tight!

·

I ordered this exact one. And I did not receive this exact one. Instead of a capital B there's an R and four 8s... But it works just them same.

And yes it really does work.

Here is the one I use from AMZ for $10... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058EDAUA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's just a rubber ball, but works well.

Works fine if someone didn’t put too many ugga-duggas on the caseback the last time it was tightened.

I see someone is watching torque test channel 🦾😎🔧

·

Alternative: I use strong two-sided sticky tape aka carpet tape.

·

Yes, and yes.
