Best release of the year?

Anyone better? I find this stunning! Mind you that I haven't read anything from this author, but the look of the watch is very cool. My favorite so far this year I think!!

I also like the Rolex OP "bubbles", Oris Kermit, Nivada/Fretello chronographs and the new "3 days" Seiko GMT 🤩

What's your favorite watch release so far this year?

This one from Mido has really grabbed my attention.

That is a good looking dial. Interesting trend to try out different dial structures. I seen some interesting slate colored Sinns. But I think they been here for a while and not new for 2023.

I liked Rolex new dressy release 1908 as their replacement for their Cellini line.

True. Sinn is killing it lately it seems.

I prefer the Cellini moonphase over the the new one, but I'm never getting either 😅

·

Yes, that's gorgeous 😍. Not read owt by him either.

Best of the year? It's an important anniversary for the Seamaster so I'm hoping that Omega will revamp the 2254 🙏

Me neither. I think they will introduce a moonphase in the future.

I think they were this year. At least I don’t remember seeing them last year and Mido is one of those brands I pay attention to.

Not sure this is the best release of the year so far...personally if I'm buying a new watch I don't want it to be pre-aged! Reminds me of those daft Out Of Order watches. I like the worn look, but I'd rather it was naturally worn from my own use of the watch 👍

Latest Vulcain Skindiver 38mm in Salmon dial (1960's reissue) love it even in their Black and Blue dials too look great. Also Nivada Grenchen's Antarctic Diver (a 1960's reissue) about to be released in the next week.

Intresting looking watch but personally really don't like faux heavy used look, neither the dial. The price for base 2824-2 movement is quite optimistic, also 800€ bump up on regular model too. For me best release on whole spectrum in 2023 would be JLC Reverso Tribute Chronograph and from more affordable ( for me at least ) spectrum is Rolex Explorer 40mm.

ditto on your JLC comment!

It was the most-highly anticipated 2mm I’ve ever seen. 😉😀

I'm a fan of Doxa but I don't like that watch at all

·

pre-aged steel feels gimmicky to me

·

The Doxa does not work for me on many levels I'm afraid...don't like the case, bracelet or dial - or the used look 😬 Interesting developments / releases in 2023 for me include Panerai's revamping of its Radiomir series; eg the Annual Calender:

Image

H. Moser's work on their dials, eg. their Grand Feu enamel dial (way too expensive - but absolutely stunning):

Image

And Glashutte's take on their Pano Inverse (also way out of my price league - but amazing execution front and back):

Also interesting: Maurice Lacroix's new AIKON Master Grand Date Technicolour:

And the Longines Hydroconquest in green:

Stunner that Vulcain 👌 New to me!!

they are also famous for their cricket watches which have mechanical alarms - these models are known as being the true "president's " watch !

I am a great admirer of Clive Cussler. Love his Dirk Pitt novels and what he has accomplished with NUMA. I may be on the hook for this one!

Stunning watch IMO 😊 I have only heard about Cussler on The Grey Nato podcast.. They are hardcore Doxa fans too

Not a big fan of the compass image but I think the dial colour looks great with the dull, tumbled steel case/bracelet.

·

I'm not a fan of those painted dials. IMHO they kind of childlish. I do prefer something more serious.

Why so serious 🤡?

·

Not serious. Just formal. 😎
