Removing second hand?

I have researched and I know it is difficult but possible to tighten the second hand so it would stop being loose. But I think a two-hander look would serve this watch well.

The question is: Do I really need any tools beyond some tweezers if I just want to remove the seconds hand (and I don't care if that is ruined)? Seem like I can just take it out of the case pull gently on the second hand proper and then the counterbalance and back and forth till it comes loose. Blow dust of it and plop it back in the case?

What ya experts say?

Yes, you can use tweezers if you don't mind bending the second hand. (Position the second hand perpendicular to the other hands, and make sure not to touch them. You will also need some protection for the dial. Plastic foil from a sandwich bag may me enough.)

Proper tools for watch hand removals should be around $3 at AliExpress. And why not replace the second hand?

Thanks 😊 You have tried? I think the watch gets a more "chill" expression without the second hand 🤔

Sure yes, I sometimes replace hand sets on my lunch break. Keep in mind that you will see the bare pinion in the center if you don't install a second hand or a cap. The watch will function perfectly fine without a second hand.

Pfft, assuming you can remove case back and pull the stem/crown, you can pry the second hand off between your fingernails. Back in the 90's when I had no internet, that's how I self-taught myself to do it. It is literally friction fit on there.

Cap? Do they sell those?
