What’s your dream three watch collection?

While I have about 16 watches in my collection, for the past few years I have focused on building my dream trio. I was recently able to complete this trio which consists of my BB58, speedy, and explorer I.

All of these watches are tied to important milestones in my life too, which adds something extra special to each piece! I’m excited to see where I go from here!

What is your guys’ dream three watch collection (inside your vast collection😅) and what is an ideal collection size?

Have a good one, watch fam!

What about getting a Hamilton khaki field? I am assuming that it is one of your watch from your collection if not, try giving it a shot.

·

Here’s the 3 watches in my box that would make up the 3 watch collection. As far how many watches is the ideal size. I’m at 8 and I’m not thinking about stopping. So I’m guessing more than 8.

-Glashutte Original Senator observer

The GO is my favorite watch.

- Raymond Weil Freelancer

The Freelancer has the most

sentimental value. It was gift from

my wife. It’s also the fist watch in

in the box.

- Rolex Explorer II

It’s the Rolex I wanted the most but

never thought I’d get.

This is my 3 watch collection.

I like to keep my watching running, so one has to be quartz(GS).

·

I’m not really a 3 watch guy, more like 4 with that 4th being any sort of watch (beater, fashion, specific purpose watch, etc.). For example, your categories may be chrono, diver, field, or they may be adventure, work, fashion, water, etc. I fall into the latter camp where it’s more situational than checking the type box.

Back to the 4, I say that because you should be able to nail down a 4 watch core collection to allow breathing room unless you’re a two watch kind of person. That 4th watch can make all the difference.

·

Stunning collection, pretty damn close to a perfect 3 watch collection with 3 icons. For me it changes by the day lol. Right now, probably an Explorer, BB58, and JLC MUT Small seconds. That gives a ton of versatility and 3 iconic brands. The JLC switches out depending on the day but the other 2 are pretty set. I’d be 100% on the JLC if it came in a smaller size like 36 or 37mm.

·

That’s a really nice trio. If I was to make my perfect trio out of my current collection it would probably be these.

LeJour Rally Monte-Carlo, Titanium Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic and my Farer Leven II Titanium. Big titanium fan, also prefer divers, field and sporty watches to more dressy pieces and I just really like my LeJour chronograph.

·

You are in the sweet spot with that trio.

Well played.

Do you mind me picking your brain a bit about the phoibos? I'm mesmerized by the abalone dial but I'm worried it will be too big for me; I have a 6.75 inch wrist.

What size is your wrist? Do you think it wears like a true 42?

·

Easy one - I just have three! (and two quartzes from a long time ago)

GO Senator, CW C63 Sealander GMT and Squale 1545:

Image

Really happy with these for now.

For the future: perhaps a white dial (affordable solution: CW C60 Atoll, preferred solution GO Pano...)

·

Those are 3 very nice watches. I’d be very happy if I could steal your collection!

·

I m a 7.5 inch wristie.

Me thinks it fits me perfect- maybe at 6.75' there will be a lil space at the lugs

·

Personally, I think the perfect collection is a 4 watch collection. Why? No real answer. It gives you enough play for some good watches but doesn’t get to cluttered. I’m not a fan of having tons of watches as most of them don’t get worn. I know personally I stick to 2-4 watches for 90% of the time. My perfect trio would be

1. Explorer II

2. BB 58 blue

3. Speedmaster

And if I could get a fourth is would be a Datejust 41 black dial.

Rado True Square Plasma High Tech Ceramic. Unscratchable ceramicrectangular watch, which looks like high polished metal.

Frederique Constant Monolithic. A crazy mega high beat watch that vibrates 288.000 times per hour. All mechanical. With a glyding second hand and an oscilator of silicon.

Montblanc Iced Sea. The dial is made onnseveral layers and should remknd on glaciers. One of the coolest and most unique divers in my opinion.

All watches way under 5K.

Three is too limiting so I included an additional watch I don’t own.

Sinn 103 Chrono

Christoper Ward C60 Elite 1000

Cartier Ronde

G-Shock DW5600

How do you like the LeJour? I've been looking at their Brooklyn model and haven't seen much in the wild. They were once a part of Yema ?? Just trying to get a little information from some who has one! Nice piece BTW.

I love it the case shape is a little different the dial is beautiful and although the stated thickness is 14.5 a lot of that is the caseback that disappears when the watch is on.

Not so good on the history of the brand, I’m surprised to hear they might have been owned by Yema, I know they’ve been around for a while, and just based on this watch they make a great product.

I’m trying to get to a core 4 of Santos, Speedy, Explorer, and a Pelagos FXD. All I have left is the FXD that I am hoping to pick up next year

That’ll be a nice collection. I have a Santos and FXD, along with a Yacht-Master which is more or less a compliment to the FXD (bi-directional bezels). A Speedy would round out the 4 watch collection nicely. If I didn’t have a YM, an explorer would make a lot of sense.

If you change the role to a sub no date you hit it on the head.

I love this! Been debating the blue vs red big crown pointer date. There’s something g that draws me in about the red

From my box, these would be my 3:

My ideal is quite close to yours - I would only replace the Tudor with a Submariner.

Can’t go wrong with the sub! I love the snowflake hands of the Tudor😅. Would you go with a vintage sub or a modern sub? They have similar design elements but feel very different on the wrist

I'd probably go with the newest iteration of the Sub. It's slightly bigger on paper (41mm), but the general consensus is that it wears smaller! I really hated the maxi-case - and it looks like they've mostly corrected what I hated so the watch and the bracelet look a bit more seamless.

·

What a trio! Fantastic!

I'm not sure about my dream wish list, but from my box, it would be:

I only have 4 watches, so it's kinda hard to pick 3 lol)))

As you can see, I'm more in a realm of smaller and (sometimes) slightly older watches, so my ultimate dream trio is gonna be a Tudor Prince Date 2 tone (in 34mm yeas), a vintage Tank and I guess a 16710 GMT-Master II. A Tudor is in fact in my plans, it's inside my comfort zone price and style wise. I'm also thinking about some vintage Seamasters or Constellations.

Overall, even with what I have you can kinda see the theme)

I like a total of 5. The three below plus a G-Shock and a tough quartz diver like my Scurfa.

Tudor BB58 Blue: I’ve had it for a few years and love it. Tried it on against my friend’s 5-digit Sub and was suprised to learn I preferred to wear this one. This is my go-to watch.

Image

Sinn: Either the U50 or 256Ty. Currently trying to decide which will stay vs go but either would be a good choice.

Image

Stowa Flieger Classic 36: Not a dress watch, but on a leather strap it will dress up just enough and is a good size.

Image

This is such a minor point, but I really like it that Stowa gives you the option of having STOWA on the otherwise everybody's sterile Flieger dial.

Your watch looks great and I can tell, of course, that it is indeed a Stowa.

Only three watches!? Dream collection!!?? That's a nightmare!!!

I agree. I also like that the logo is very subtle. It is even more subtle in person than photos
