I like the general look of the bb58 line up but man, there's something about the blue 58 that makes it look so much nicer than any of the other ones in my eyes. It's just so clean.
I can't imagine how they would enforce that. It's hard enough for them to ensure the ADs aren't flipping the watches on the grey market. Trying to figure out if an AD is playing these games would be a nightmare. Plus, Rolex needs people to buy their less hyped watches so it's not really in their interest to stop ADs. Again, it sucks but that's just how it is. I'm fairly confident the hype will pass in the coming decade.
I mean me too but does it really bother us that much? These games are for people with the time and money to burn. All the rest of us have to do is not play. If we want it, we let our interest be known. If it comes, great. If it doesn't, a lot of other great watches to explore.
They could make 10 million but if the number of people who want it is higher, you're still stuck with the same problem. I don't like it and I won't ever play an ADs stupid game or pay above retail for one, but at the end of the day, more people want a Rolex than Rolex can supply and Rolex is ultimately a business. Plus, I think a lot of these games are AD driven and not Rolex driven. I doubt Rolex gets anything when an AD tries to get you to buy some random jewelry.
I'm not sure this would work. I don't like waitlists either or these silly games but if Rolex were to sell first come first serve, they would never have anything in stock. People would also start trying to figure out when items get delivered to ADs and camp out to be the "first in line".
As a business model, it just doesn't make sense to operate like that for a luxury brand. As much as it sucks for the rest of us, they will sell to the returning customers first because Rolex knows they'll keep coming back for more.
