Wife's trio collection after 10 years

She got the Rolex Daytona in 2014 as a birthday present. In 2022 under the pandemic, she decided to get the Grand Seiko SBGA413 - and this year her taste has evolved (my words) so I bought her the Cartier Panthére as a birthday gift. That makes a nice trio. If you should get your wife/partner a watch; which one?

My wife’s been wanting a Tank for ages. I’m trying to do my once her the Panthere is a better choice. She does fancy it but still not replacing the Tank as option number one..

That’s a great “3 watch collection” btw 🙌🏼

While not as flexible as a white dial watch, I think I'd go with a simple blue gold combination.

BTW...the collection you presented is awesome.

A small JLC Reverso would be an undercover sexy flex piece…

Nice Ballon Bleu. Is it a 33mm?

Thanks. I agree the Tank is a perfect choice. But getting a Tank on an original bracelet ain't easy. The Panthére was the runner up.

Thanks. In my eyes, I agree the trio lack...eh...some punch in colours. Gold and blue has been a design winner for years. 🙂 Nice PP posted as an example.

JLC Reverso is a classic, but is a competitor to a classic Tank Américaine.

Yes, I think so from memory( mines 41 for comparison). Beautiful watch. 😍👍🏻

The final watch for her collection is the Grand Seiko STGF359;

If I had a wife, I'd get her a Daytona I think they look great on a woman's dainty wrist. That being said, I like them too sooooooo.....maybe I like Daytona's in general haha🤣

I offered the Mrs a selection of Rolex OP, Rolex Daytona, then various AP, Cartier, VC and Patek, all gold and some with diamonds, all kinds of movements and new through vintage. She chose an understated 1940 VC tank in rose gold.

The next expensive purchase for her will be a white Chanel J12, but not for a couple of years yet - she has more than enough watches right now.

The Cartier is the watch that is most my wife’s style. She gravitates towards small dress watches. I know she likes a few Cartiers.

·

I would encourage them to consider Grand Seiko, but I would want them to develop their own tastes after seeing their options and get what they want.

·

None. My wife hates watches, luckily for me

·

Wanted to buy my wife a watch. Diamonds were a requirement.

Without looking at prices we cross shopped a PP/Tiffany Twenty Four, JLC Reverso, and Cartier Tank.

Tank was her choice by far

·

Oh! Consider an Hermes, as bjy history for a Birkin bag

My wife's collection is pretty damn good if I don't say so myself. OG Aquaterra 38.5 teak deck Coaxial, NTTD Bond, Blue Tag Glass box.

...and as a bonus; you could share and wear the Daytona between you. The Cartier Panthére is de facto too small for a normal man's wrist and lacks any adjustment possibilities - the Daytona at least has the easy link to compensate in wrist differences between two persons sharing one watch.

That's a great point!
