I was thinking something similar.
Drill a hole in the LCD, remove the guts, and install a mechanical watch behind the screen.

I doubt the inventors of the numbers themselves named them Arabic, so it's really more about origin.
This calls to mind a Neil deGrasse Tyson explanation of why he still uses BC and AD in his date nomenclature, rather than the modern BCE and CE. He wants to give credit to the Gregorian inventors of the calendar.
Just a quick look makes me think "West Arabic" is the right name for the numbers.

I hate to say it, but the fashion now is a suit and no tie.
Similarly, sneakers (of the right style) are also acceptable in business setting.
Just like dive watches are acceptable with suits (I accept this one only begrudgingly) that's just the way things are right now. Will it change? Absolutely, but I don't know what direction it will go.
