World Timers

I love world timers, and I don’t have one … YET! Aside from the super brands like Vacheron and Patek … which one of the obtainable World Timers do you like? Just because I love traveling and imagery I made a world map compulsory.

Does the CASIO AE-1200 count? It has a world map after all, and no one can claim that it's not affordable.

If they didn’t restrict to four slots .. yes

Very much in the affordable range compared to the AT, JLC etc: I’m very happy with the Farer Roché II

At least I put it in a nice case and added a nice bracelet. :-)

For me the best worldtimer is the GO Cosmopolite. It has the best movement out of any I've seen including the above. It tracks daylight savings time and 15 min and 30 min timezones too

My choice is the Frederique Constant classic worldtimer. Just be aware that a worldtimer is not great for traveling because you have to reset both the time and the city disc every time you change time zones. A true GMT is much better suited for traveling.

The Omega is the only one of the four that accounts for daylight savings time, so it gets the win for me (it’s the only non-digital world timer that I’m aware of period that does, in fact, I’d love to see others that do). I don’t understand why more worldtimers don’t do the same subtle shading trick that the Omega does.

Btw - why is there a PRX Chrono as the cover image in a post about Worldtimers?

That’s a good looking watch

Glausitte Original is very very very underrated

I love world timers too. Way better than GMT watches I'd say.

Here's my only worldtimer and it's definitely an affordable one for sure:

I usually try not to use other’s photos for covers .. only photos I’ve taken … as I don’t have a world timer i just chose a random photo on my phone … also didn’t want to use the VC and Patek as the cover … confusing

Bulgaria Octo world timer and LV escale World time are my 2 favorites

·

Longines Master Collection. 38mm with 44mm lug-to-lug so it's quite wearable even with small wrists.

·

Gotta look them up .. thanks for the recommend

I'm a massive fan of this FC Highlife 'Amsterdam' worldtimer. It's a limited edition (100 pieces) done with Ace Jewellers in (of course) Amsterdam. There's still a few available too!

The FC is the best worldtimer of that design (ie world map) in terms of design and value - not even close IMO - and I am an Omega mark. However the Junghans Worldtimer is amazing overlooked option (no map), and of course the Casio Worldtimer an amazing watch that does everything one needs and more.

Usually these watches are or wear larger in wrist - so I would keep that in mind.

Love mine 😁

Speaking from personal experience, the Omega is amazing but not without its quirks. Calling it what it is, and admitting that this could just be a “me thing,” the main complaint I have with the Omega is the lack of a quick-set date function. While I prefer my watches to not have a date at all, the WorldTimer’s date is set by manually progressing the time via the jumping hour hand. This process gets tedious quickly, and requires you to pay attention to AM/PM timing for the watch because not doing so would defeat the point of having a world timer in the first place.

All of that being said, the dial is stunning in person and it wears very comfortably on the wrist (keeping in mind I have a 7-7.5” wrist.)

Knew what I wanted in a grail, this watch checked all the boxes for me. Hope you find yours. Definitely take your time, do your research, see and try in the flesh, no impulse buying, you don't want any regrets at this price range.

·

Take a look at the Rado Over Pole as an interesting affordable alternative, especially if you like smaller dials.

·

They all are amazing pieces

·

As far as worldtimers go, I'm a big fan of the Bulgari Octo Roma. I just love this design and it's not nearly as thin as the Octo Finissimo, so it probably wears a bit better on the wrist than something that thin, which I imagine would be off putting.

This would be my vote

I just recently saw the omega seamaster world timer in summer blue and it looks really spectacular in my opinion. Besides the Frédérique constant is a very fine live in watchmaking. A matter of taste.

·

Lots of choices here especially if you go vintage as well.

My favorite is the Seamaster...

Absolutely stunning .. it should fit casual and formal too
