Favorite Complication?

Currently, I have watches that have date complications, a couple of chronographs, and a GMT. Though I’ve never owned any, I am familiar with other complications such as perpetual calendars, chimes/alarms, etc.

That said, my favorite complication is the GMT. As a Southern California resident for more than half my life, I still have family living in the Philippines and that’s the “other time” I always track.

What about you?

Yes!  My favorite complication.  And, somehow, it just seems like GS is the king of GMT.  Like, if we did a word association game about GS, what would immediately come to my mind:

  • Zaratsu polishing
  • Dials and the "nature of time"
  • GMT
  • And...

Spot on! 😆

My favorite complication is the chronograph. I tend to use mine for timing all sorts of things, and really enjoy the fact that it provides me with an excuse to interact with my watch.

·

That does sound “complicated” 😉

The chronograph is my second favorite for the same reason.

I frequently travel and routinely communicate with people in other time zones every work day. So dual time zones & GMTs are my favorites.

My wife.

That’s real complication alright 😆

·

Personally, I favor my large collection of perpetual calendars and minute repeaters but when I deign to join the rabble, GMT is definitely my favorite.😉

seriously, I’m with you on GMT. It’s a great complication. Super useful and looks great!

Hear, hear!

Favourite complication? Me :)

·

I find the date quite handy.

·

I do want a moon phase complication since I don’t have one yet, but prefer no complications my life a bit complicated already…

·

I’ve been wanting this piece for the longest i personally love a date complication a lot of my seikos run a day and a date. Pretty great value considering the price. I would love to see this on a nato if you have one laying around.

·

GMT/Zulu/Worldtime.

Variations on basically the same complication.

·

My favorite complication is no complication.  I have a phone that tells me multiple time zones, atomic accurate time, perpetual calendar, everything.  So what I want now is a clean time keeping function. Beautiful simplicity and design. I'm also tired of setting time again and again on my mechanicals and each complication makes it more difficult.  Sometimes you have to consult the manual because I have so many watches.

Of course, if we're talking digital (as in my beloved g shocks) then there's no need to choose. The Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1 has it all. Solar charging, perpetual calendar, atomic clock, etc. Amazing value for $100.

·

Unless it’s got the Date of Yom Kippur, A Star Chart and a Minute Repeater, I’m not interested. The other 54 complications are just a little bonus.

GMT is the best complication! 👌

·

Beautiful moon phase is my favorite complication from a looks perspective, but as a frequent traveler I think a GMT would be the most useful

·

I get a nosebleed at anything that isn’t a sub-seconds dial. Sweeping seconds are the work of witches.

The answer is celestial calendar.

·

I dont know why but I really like good executed moon phases and date complications with two seperate numerals.

No, I don’t only because this is my “dress” watch. That said, now I’m curious to see what it would look like with a Nato strap.

  • I saw this post and it really got me into the idea of dressing down more elegant timepieces. (Not that this patek is even in my tax bracket but you catch my drift lol) I feel it opens the door to watches that I’d probably never consider because they’re too dressy for my lifestyle.

I think you’re on to something here. I’ll look for one and post it. Thanks for the idea!

100% agree with you on the GMT. I live in a different timezone from all of my family so it's nice to see at a quick glance if it's a good time to call them.

·

Hands down, the date window is my favorite. Sad to see so many divers moving away from that.

·

GMT is probably the most useful but I l think aesthetically the moonphase complication does it for me.

Can't help but revive this old thread! For some reason, I love power reserve indicators. LOL. Part of it has to do with the fact that they have nothing to do with the time. But also, I just like knowing how much life is left in my watch, like a video game character.
