Well, I'm an Invicta owner now.

I happened to notice the Invicta Pro Diver is on sale at Amazon right now for a pretty good sale price. That along with a bit of left over gift card balance finally made this irresistible.

I really don't need one, but I've been curious about these Invictas for quite a while. Thanks to one-day shipping, I'll be rocking the Invicta tomorrow, right along with this guy...

They're decent watches for the money. And I have a pathological hatred for that model. Don't know why. Stupid f*cking turtleneck

·

I have the exact same watch. I have to tell you...I really like it. I think it's built fairly well, and it feels like a Sub on the wrist. Seiko movement is NH35 - decent. I have taken mine swimming multiple times. Works like a champ, and it feels dependable.

·

I would treat it like a GShock or any other Casio. When you want a beater watch with incredible value, it is there for you.

·

I have the blue version. My daughter's first reaction was: "Eww, blingy!" The black version may be a little more muted, but probably not by much.

So I put it on different straps, and changed dial and hands twice. I works just fine, and I can live with it now.

P.S.: Invicta owners are required to wear turtlenecks and stare into the distance.

·

They would be 200% better if Invicta stopped engraving a giant INVICTA on the case side.

Didn't you guys know Steve Jobs used to wear an Invicta all the time? That is why you have to wear a turtle neck while rocking a pro diver 😀

I’ve owned my Pro Diver with an ETA 2824 since 2005 and have worn it through hell and high water. It has been a stellar watch. I’m often amiss with the notion some people have that the brand is toxic. Despite aggressive marketing and a penchant for ‘the large’, Invicta may be an entity that is a victim of misunderstanding.

The Urban Gentry did a good review of that piece a week or so ago.

·

Excellent watch for the money. Probably one of the best values out there. My biggest complaint with mine was the lume.

·

£99?! God damn you. I want one now.

·

I have a very old one with the Miyota movement. It shows it's age on the outside but the inside is still running along nicely. As a comparison, I bought a new NH35A version. It is about 1mm thicker and a small amount heavier but otherwise it should last like it's older sibling. I bought the first one before I learned I was supposed to not like them. LOL. To that, I give raspberries. 😜

I picked one up from Amazon a few years ago to use to practice regulating a watch. For $92 CDN, I was pretty impressed. When it arrived, it was running a very respectable +9SPD, and I was able to regulate it to run < +2SPD.  The bezel was almost impossible to turn initially, but after playing with it a bit it loosened up to the point of being completely useable. The bracelet itself was nicer than I expected, but the clasp was very disappointing, so I quickly changed to a strap. The lume was pathetic, by far the worst I've ever encountered. The winding action of the crown was definitely not confidence inspiring, and I personally would be very hesitant to wear it in the water, but overall it's definitely a much better watch than the price would suggest.

I have a Pro Diver from many years ago- close to 20. (Miyota 8215) that's been worn plenty and the gold plate is still unblemished. No model #-it predates model #'s on the caseback.

I also own the newer Pro Diver 1953 which is an incredible value.

Their marketing is suspect as is their CEO but they do make a decent watch on rare occasions.

You know what it is, that stare he's doing isn't a proper model stare. He looks like he's trying not to think about the fact that he's wearing an Invicta. And those hard Photoshop edges around his outline along with that punchy color grade, it all comes together to just kind of make the picture look amateurish. It looks disingenuous.

That said, it's definitely one of the best value for money watches ever, maybe even the best.

But I wouldn't mind if they spent a little more on their photography 😅

That's a backup, in case you don't notice the bright yellow rotor sticker.

Forget Rolex, AP, VC, Jacob & Co, Lange...

Nothing says, "f**k you", like an Invicta.

The watch can more than handle water (or at least my unit can. YMMV)

Still don't know how I didn't get mugged wearing this in skeg

I think this is more like it...

I bought the black/gold two tone ‘for a laugh’ and discovered I actually really like it lol.

I got a quartz one a few months back on sale for $50. Great watch for $50. I put a small grinding wheel on a Dremel and got rid of the ugly Invicta engraved on the side, then used a Brillo pad and progressively finer sandpaper by hand, I don't think it came out half bad, brushed the other side to match. I accepted at the start that I might hack it up and ruin it but for the money I didn't care, and it ended up pretty good. Took the cyclops off, too.

That looks great! I was planning to brush the center links for sure, and would like to remove the big "INVICTA" if it's not too complicated. I do have a Dremel and access to sand paper. I'll look for a tutorial.

This is what got me started. I started off with a hand file and realized that was going to take hours and hours and hours, if not an entire day. It is etched deeper than it looks in pictures. I just dremeled some material off the entire side to even it out and it came out pretty good.

the 1953 is a great watch for the money. I love it and wear it all the time.  Very little branding or what you would find on most watches

Yeah the 1953 looks nice. It has been in my Amazon list for months, but the price never seems to drop like the Pro Diver does.

Proud of you! I got the quartz one and the 1953 in black love it. Im so tempted to get the one you got.
