Best “Mini Collection” from your collection?

Was doing some rearranging of my watches the other day and was having some fun deciding on which of my watches would make a good mini collection.

Does anyone else do this occasionally? What’s your strongest mini collection?

I have few sub collections, about 5 in each category ok or 6 😂 or 10…😜 but I don’t label them strong I just cuz i think they are equally strong 💪

-Seiko Porcelain/Enamel Dial Collection

-Micro Brand Collection

-Seiko Diver Collection

-Solar/Quartz Collection

and off course the G-Shock Collection 💪

Equally strong, no doubt! Hmm... your solar collection intrigues me 🧐

I do exactly the same. To me, my watches not only need to make sense individually and be a coherent part of the whole collection but I also like to rearrange them into sub-collections that also make sense by themselves. With that approach, I can mentally have several collections.

·

This is how I collect. I put together three watch collections based on…some made up criteria that works at the time. Will post later.

One fun mini collection I think of is my Team Casio:

I like to do mini-collections that include a pilot, a field, and a diver from a particular brand. For example, Bulova- Hack, Oceanographer, and A15; Islander-Rangemaster, Bayport, and Hemel Collaboration Pilot; Seiko-SNJ025 Arnie, Seiko 5 SRPG35, and Seiko 5 SPRH33; Citizen-Nighthawk, Prodiver, and Chandler; Hamilton-Khaki Pilot Flight Timer, Khaki Hand-Wind Field, and Khaki Navy (I am still needing to get this one. It is on my list for 2023).

·

I don't have a mini collection but I approve of your SD-1.

Six Swiss (which is really two collections, one of entry level Swiss watches and one of entry level luxury)

Enthusiast collection (note the Hamilton is playing double duty here. I’ve since replaced it with a Seiko ProSpex and created an enthusiast Japanese collection)

My mini collection is my “permanent” one. These 3 will always be with me since their sentimental value is way more than what they’re actually worth:

Omega Flightmaster (Circa early 70s), my father’s watch.

Squale (limited run order for my alma mater)

Image

Rado Ceramica (a recent gift from my father)

I do this all the time… my favorite right now is my land, sea and air collection.

Hammy Chrono

The Gilty 58

The OceanStar GMT

If I expanded this to include a simple everyday, I’d probably drop my SARB in the mix but odds over evens, always.

Made a post a couple of weeks ago about what watches to choose. I ended up with this trio at the time.

This set is epic. Although I’d change up the straps a bit, nato on explorer and rubber in the seiko. awesome set great choices

Thank you! I have a rubber ready for the summer for the Seiko👍

First time post. Enjoying this discussion. Some nice mini collections here. These are my three. A diver, a daily/reference watch and a dress watch

or also know as the Window Sill Collection…😜

I have three main cases, the traditional more well known names, military, mostly vintage, and the independent/micro brands which works well. Breaking down further gets too confusing.

Other than my collection of straps, I have a small collection of Bertucci and Casio.

I'm a big fan of your zodiac! That's quite a lineup you've got there

It's certainly a rare one, they didn't make any more of these after their 1st run. I knew I had to get one before they were all gone, but the 26mm fixed lugs make it a little difficult to find straps (only one piece nato straps).

thanks! 👍

The zodiac hits heavy for what it is: a $1200 swiss diver.  It’s COSC, 200m, 20mm strap monster, is the ultimate summer watch, or when you need a bit of summer in the middle of winter ❄️ mine keeps better than +- 1 second a day

Loved the full metal square from the first time I saw it online. Enjoy the multband 6 accuracy, still enjoy wearing resin g shocks though, especially in summer. I like the dial on your Jack mason watch
