Name 1 microbrand you think will reach cult status in 20years.

Every major brand have its humble beginnings and most started small like most microbrands.

Some took a few years and some took a hundred years to reach where they are today.

Which microbrand do you think will reach major brand status in the next 20 years?

He is awesome, but certainly more independent than a micro, ditto for Wen.

I do not think most of the brands we like, and certainly none of the private label based ones will reach the next decade nevermind cult status. I love micro brands, but ultimately many are using similar off the shelf parts and simply not special. The cheap Seiko alternatives will be remembered as that. The more competitive ones will also be remembered as that. Then there are others that will become more like Christopher Ward.

The brands that will become more iconic are those that offer something special; the dials of AnOrdain, the movement of the Bel Canto, etc. The smaller independents that are truly offering something unique will be the ones we look back on and say “Can you believe that sold for $3000?”

This isn't a microbrand, this guy is an indie. That's very different imo!

None if they can't develop something on their own instead of reproducing something that already exists. Doing "hommage" watches is great but this won't last decades. If they develop their own movements and create a true brand, then there's nothing to worry about!

On their current trajectory, I think Furlan Marri could be a very big deal in years to come.

You also have to understand back when Rolex was starting it had very little competition. Nowadays there is way more technology and advancements. It is very hard to keep up. Also there are way better movements and designs out there than Rolex and look at its following, that’s why someone like CW can do extremely well doing what they do best. Rolex is the perfect example of marketing and branding. Omega, Zen and GS have way better movements and finishing than Rolex. So to say someone like CW has to come up with some crazy designs or they’re own movement to be on a cult status is crazy.

I love my CW. I'm not saying that they have to come up with some crazy design. I just think it's almost impossible for modern day independents to produce what may be considered a classic in the future because they are almost all standing on the shoulders of giants.

Baltany is gaining grounds. San Martin and Pagani for sure.

About 90% of mentions in here are already cult status. Pretty much every watch enthusiast knows Farer, Brew, Zelos, CW ....

And especially Christopher Ward, at least for me, is a major brand already.

That's why i vote for Namica.
