Give that 34mm watch a chance.

Many would not even give vintage/ neo-vintage pieces a chance due to the typically 34/35 mm case size. The lug to lug, male/female endlinks and whether it’s an integrated bracelet or not plays a big part.

Best is to give it a chance and try.

I do enjoy my 45.5mm Planet Ocean as much as this 34mm IWC ingenieur.

For context im 1.83m/6ft tall, 92kg/202pound light, 6.75inch wrist with caveman hands.

Looks great imo, and aside from that great watch that's seldom seen!

That being said I recall someone saying that it's a challenge getting these movements serviced if anything goes wrong, would definitely welcome your thoughts on the matter.

·

That's a nice looking total package 😍

Do you have to get leather straps custom made to fit a case like that?

I haven't seen that end shape on StrapsCo.

I As far as size goes I'm comfortable with most anything 40mm and under. Probably 34mm would be the smallest I'd enjoy wearing.😎

·

Yeah I think that IWC in particular looks great at 34mm on your wrist!

·

Absolute classic in a proper size 👍

·

They’re very comfortable.

I think many forget that integrated bracelet watches behave more like bracelet watches than regular wristwatches

·

Looks good on you!

Perfect that my friend 👌new ones don't fit anyone 😂

·

34 mm is perfect

·

Looks perfect on you👌surprisingly well for a sport watch but I say the intergrated concept works in it’s favour. My 34mm are all vintage and I never felt them to small. The only time I felt a watch being too small was the SKX013. And that was only due to my perception of how a SKX should wear.

·

I just can’t go below 40 mm anything below that just doesn’t feel like a watch it feels like jewelry. I have to put my two 36 mm watches on bund straps to even feel like they’re real. I’m just a fan of wrist presence. I suppose I feel the same way about wrist watches that Flava Flav feels about necklaces.

What's the reference number for this?

Honestly I would recommend getting the non alarm automatic version. That’s much easier to service. In Singapore, the quartz JLC movement in this piece is hard to come by. The master watchmaker from IWC Singapore recommended me to send back to Switzerland if anything goes wrong. And because these JLC movements are quite old, there is no guarantee. Saying that, there is no problem for a skilled watchmaker to service the automatic movements. :) For repair, the parts may need time to order but repair is still possible. :)

Thank you! Unfortunately not yet. I’m trying to find the end links/buckle for this model :)

Both of my vintage Vulcains are 34mm and my vintage Seiko 36mm. They feel and look great. For me it's about appreciating the best of both worlds from a case size perspective. Just depends on how I'm feeling in the moment.

What the hobby is all about IMO; not limiting options or living in a silo.

My souls is probably stuck in the 70s/80s jewellery sized watch era. Haha.. saying that I do enjoy the 45.5mm PO and the 41mm BB GMT.

Even my Mickey Mouse is 40 mm

Pure class.

You are talking to someone who just got back from a 20 mile Bicycle ride listening to Peter Frampton I live in the 70s I just commute to the present.

I usually go for the 40mm+ sizes, but I should try out some of the 36-38mm ... that looks really good.

Gotta start slow! Like a 39mm/37mm or some vintage pieces where it’s supposed to be worn smaller.

I totally agree with you on this… One of the most beautiful watches I have now is a 35mm vintage Omega.

I have a 7” wrist, sometimes 7 1/4” when swollen.

I love that watch with all my heart.

Thank you my man! The 35mm omegas are amazing. Wear it in good health!

Looks absolutely superb on. I would make a point of only seeking out the 34mm based on that pic and that we're the same size. Thanks for sharing

No problem! Good luck with the hunt! :)

I wish I could. There's some 35 mm that I really like. I have small enough wrists for it. But my hands make it look ridiculous. This is my 38 mm I'm wearing today. My wrist looks okay but when you add my hand to my wrist it just tiny.

I have the same problem. My loving wife says I have caveman hands. lol. 😂 so I can’t pull off certain models like the BB54. Even when it’s 37mm. Best is to try and see. Tricky to blind buy with our “manly caveman hands”.

As an increasingly stout wristed man, I am sadder day by day by number of 34mm watches that look just too small on my wrist.

Maybe something with integrated bracelet might help. Some models don’t work with me even when it’s 37mm. I think a few things is at play to see if a watch suit us. :)

·
the_sybarite

I have 8” wrists and prefer a smaller watch. My collection ranges from 35 - 40 mm with 38 being absolutely perfect. I think in the last 20 yrs so many large watches have been released that our eyes see a 36mm and thinks it’s small and dainty. That’s just not the case.

100%! my sweet spot is 37/38mm as well.

I will, same to you!!

That Constellation is beautiful. The Pie Pan line is one of the most attractive vintage Omega lines there is…. The other would be the Seamaster Deville… some crazy dials there.

Totally agree! I’m on the lookout for some nice Devilles. :)

I have a 6.5" wrist and this is my smallest watch, it is a 33mm that was my father's watch.

I was convinced it was too small, left it in the drawer for years, then gave it a try. The first day I thought it was illegible, but I adjusted quickly. Now it is always in the rotation.

My other watches are bigger, but this is one of the most readable in low light.

I measure the crystal at 27-28 mm which looks impractical, but specs sometimes don't match the experience. Domed plexiglass and good use of lume can make the difference.

That's better than my wife's description. She says "Alien Hands" 🤣
