Thank you for your kind words! If you’re talking $1000 brand new, I imagine you can find some Vostoks, or perhaps Seiko Presage models to scratch that itch.
For $1000 used, I would look into the Oris divers 65, and the Squale Super (38mm).
I can’t speak for the Titoni, but what I can say about the Squale 1521 is that the various case finishes create wholly different experiences.
For instance, I used to own the 1521 in PVD that wore a lot closer to a 39mm than its published 42mm sizing. Conversely, I recently tried the same 1521 case but in the 100% polished finished and it felt like a 44mm watch.
Have you tried both watches on wrist yet?
That's a fair point, and I agree: logically, a pilot-style strap would be more "aligned" with the spirit of the watch; but I live in Singapore, and I'm a pretty sweaty dude. I need something that helps me avoid that awful stickiness when it comes to mixing a leather strap with 75%+++ humidity 🥺
Thank you so much! Yes, I do find that when the B01 movement is utlised with the date window at 6 o'clock - as in this watch, and the Tudor Black Bay Chrono - the dial balance and symmetry is fantastic.
Indeed, Breitling in this modern era continue to surprise watch lovers and I fully expect them to continue bringing case sizes downward. I take your point about the OG 80s Chronomats being quite far removed from this B01 42 model. I have a friend who owns an A13350 Blackbird with the 39mm case, and I do get a little jealous from time to time. Although I must say earlier examples of the 81950 on ebay are starting to call my name too!
Nice watch! I would highly recommend you look here: https://cnswatchbands.com/rubber/rubber-watch-bands/
I like their rubber rally straps, very good feel.
I used to wear my Tudor Royal 41 as an office watch, but felt it was a little too blingy after a while 😂 have since put a number of dive and sport watches into my office wear rotation.
