What is your size range?

In my watch journey thus far, I aim for watches of diameters around 40-42mm in diameter. Looking across the board, I'm sure a fair few of us are cognisant of the sizes that are in our respective sweet zones and perhaps, from time to time, stray from the well-trodden path.

In my case, I recently discovered a vintage Longines Ultra Chron, measuring around 33mm; but in the same breath, the most "oversized" watch in my collection is my SNJ025 "Arnie" with its 48mm diameter.

What's your size range and your sweet spot? Is variety the spice of life, or do you prefer an optimised collection where the same sizing is paramount?

no doubt if you like it you should wear it, but I am curious as to how wide that size range is like 😉

39-44mm

I think lug-to-lug is as important, if not moreso than diameter.

On paper, I would never wear my vintage Seiko Turtle, as it is "a 44mm watch," but the lug-to-lug is only 46mm, which is shorter than my Hamilton Khaki Auto. It wears great! Conversely, I had a Sugess chronograph that was "only 40mm" but the l2l was (an insane) 51mm. Unwearable for me.

38-42 is my sweet spot. I will go to 36 for a dress watch and 45 for a diver though. 😎

I agree - there are many factors when it comes to a watch's sizing; L2L and overall thickness, as well as case side thickness, play a role in both the visual and tactile feel of the watch on wrist.

My watches are in the 27-44mm range. One is 44 (Aventi), one is 27 (Reverso), everything else is 38-40.

Reading these posts it’s almost as if people come in different shapes and sizes.

But that would be insane, because then there’d be no way for the Internet to decide what the perfect watch size was.

Haha while not my direct intention, my hope was to spark a discourse on what a range of sizes people find themselves aligning themselves to; in that regard, I subconsciously knew there is no such thing as a perfect size - something I thought would have been a given - since we all have different size shoes!

32 - 42 sweet spot 40.

·

Almost 8 inch wrist I go for 36 to 39, the latter for chronographs and sport watches.

·

on a 7inch wrist I go 36-38mm and maximum 42 - but only for divers

·

I wear between 34mm to 40mm. 36mm is probably favorite size.

·

I love anything 36-42 but more important for me is the lug to lug. I try and stay below 50mm for lug to lug.

·

I'll wear 33mm vintage to 44mm divers.

·

I’m mostly concerned with the lug to lug measurements of a watch - my preference being between 44 and 48mm. My favorite watch I’ve ever owned and wear almost daily is my Doxa 300T Searambler with a case size of 42mm and a lug to lug of 44mm.

All this in mind, I LOVE a 36mm sports watch. The BB36 comes to mind.

For me, it depends a lot on the era. Contemporary watches I like to be around 35mm to 41mm. With vintage, anything above 30mm is fine.

·

Good question. At 6 3/4 inch , I have 38 to 40. 42 with 50mm L2L max is possible. But I'm actually more open to going smaller. And smaller 36-38mm versions of some watches are now available.

32-44mm. Though I'd wear something smaller vintage if I liked it.

Nice! Who makes that skeleton watch?

·

I must say, having looked over the responses, indeed the "sweet spot" for most respondents seems to be 36-40mm. No surprise that watch brands offer watches with these case size variations, even if the data here is anecdotal at best.

·

My birth year watch is my smallest at 23mm by 29mm, approx. My biggest is 44mm. I was a bit nervous about the size until I tried it on. It sits perfectly & comfortably on my wrist.

Check them out...
