First Impressions of the Frederique Constant Manufacture Flyback Chronograph (FC-760NS4HC)
I didn't expect to buy a watch today, but this was 75% off (likely a display model) and I fell in love with it immediately. I also didn't expect to ever own a flyback chronograph with an in-house movement, so this was an even better surprise.
First, it's a wonderfully comfortable fit. It's 42mm wide and about 13.5mm in height, but it wears like a dream. The alligator strap with it's lovely deployent buckle is already pretty supple.
Secondly, the chronograph is a joy to use. The pushers are solid, and I might wear out the flyback feature since it's so much fun.
Lastly, the movement is gorgeous. I'll be staring at it for a while.
I almost got the FC Classic Moonphase which had an equal discount, but I'm glad I chose this. I've only had it for a couple of hours, and I'm sure I'll find some complaints eventually, but for around US$1100, this felt like I was robbing the store.
Edit: It was closer to $1200 according to XE.com.
Has anyone else had experience with Frederique Constant? What's your impression of the brand?

Of course you will alway find something to complain on any watch.
But what FC offers in quality for the price is insane.

That is a very good looking watch. And sounds like a very good deal, especially for a manufacture. Btw: the classic moonphase looks nice as well - but the chronograph has it licked by a mile imho. Good choice! And I completely understand you might wear out the flyback feature :-)

It's a quiet shop in a mall in the UAE. Probably not worth flying overseas for, unfortunately.

Yeah, I didn't mean to be so mysterious. I didn't mention the store because it's in the UAE. I think this was their display model, too, but I couldn't find any defects.

1.1K for an in-house fly-back chrono is a super good deal.. FC is an undervalued brand. FC should get more love from watch collectors

I agree with a lot of the comments above. Crazy value for price. I have had hands on with them before and their finishing and detail work is top notch as is their in house movements. This is such a steal for what your getting, you might have to turn yourself into the police

Thanks, I've never understood it either. I made the mistake of looking at the comments section of a Hodinkee review of this watch, and there was so much vitriol. I'm still having a hard time finding actual negatives with this watch. I suppose if I paid full price, it might be easier.
