The thing about diving bezels

Here is a weird thing: Maybe it is just me, but does anybody else use the diving bezel on a watch more for cooking than for diving? ๐Ÿค”

And parking meters...

I use it to confuse seagulls

ยท

Dont use my dive bezel at all.

ยท

Yup. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

ยท

Itโ€™s all about the countdown bezel.

Cooking, laundry, parking, etc... It's a handy feature for lots of things.

ยท

It's a timing bezel. Sure, it was originally for timing dives, but works for anything.

ยท

Just make sure it doesn't get too near a pan of water๐Ÿ˜ฑ

My Black Bay 58 has seen more pasta water steam than salt or freshwater in its life.

ยท

Lots of people have mentioned it for cooking over time on this forum, so I wouldn't say unusual. It comes up a lot. The majority, meanwhile, likely don't use it at all, save for turning it every month or two, just to hear it click... then get OCD about lining it up with the 12 again. It's just a design component the watches would look silly without.

ยท

The two primary uses I take advantage of are timing cooking and triggering other peopleโ€™s OCD๐Ÿ˜‚

ยท

I use chronographs for cooking. Dive bezels are for writing sessions and laundry

ยท

Even if you don't use the bezel it's still useful just for the extra minute markers ๐Ÿคฃ

ยท

I use it to time my wife who does the cooking, funny enough it annoys her when I tell her the pasta is ready ๐Ÿ˜‚

ยท

I use mine for everything except diving, but I do wear my watches swimming/diving.

ยท

Neither. Just twist it occasionally.

ยท

I use it for fidgeting

ยท

All the time

ยท

I actually never thought about using my dive watch bezel to time stuff. I usually ask Siri to time stuff. But after reading all your comments, Iโ€™m going to start using my dive watches bezel. Cool.

Grilling steak on the BBQ

ยท

The closest my dive watch gets to getting wet is when I drink a glass of water with my left hand

The reason I own a dive watch is because I drink- if I mash it into a door when shrekt it will just add to the impression that I am a rugged man who goes outside and like, moves logs around or whatever

ยท

I cook everyday and still never use my diving bezel. I think I basically bought a $6,000 fidget toy. ๐Ÿ˜”

ยท

I use it for cooking and timing some things as, for example, timing my work breaks.

ยท

I don't use my dive bezel at all either. It just comes with the watch ๐Ÿคช

A diving bezel, which is unidirectional, is a tool for scuba divers timing the length of the dive. According to the size of tank being used, 80 cu ft., 100, 120, you get the approximate air for each tank. 30, 60, 90 mins. So if you were diving with a big 105 or 120 cu. Ft. tank, you set your bezel for an hour, 1.5 hour, depending on your average air intake. It's a diving tool, nowadays substituted by diving computers. Others use their diving bezels for calculating their cooking time, workouts, etc. But it's definetly a feature of the past seldom used, I believe they are still on diving watches because if you take that away, you'd be stripping the divewatch of their main feature which gives it's character.

ASMR therapy.

ยท

I never cook when Iโ€™m diving, as the food gets very soggy.

ยท

Wait... People use the cooking bezel for diving?
