I hit 3 pretty quickly in my journey, skipped 4 and 7, currently at 9 approaching 10.

·

I’ve plateaued at 8 - critical state watch collecting

·

I would tell you I'm a solid 6, but your simple mind wouldn't understand.

·

Somewhere around 3 went off ona tangent to microbrands and never looked back ✌️

·

Started in phase 5 last year, got into phase 6 via the microbrand route.

·

Oh Dear Lord...

I just past 10, having reacquired my favourite Seiko not long ago (technically a vintage piece, maybe "neo-vintage," but I prefer to say it's "of a certain age" as so am I 😂).

Now I am on my way to 11 where my beloved Casio will once again reign supreme in my watchbox...

Funny enough, I'm ok with that 😁😎

·

Forever at 1 but that's because I'm broke 🤣🤣🤣

·

I dont take watches seriously enough to try. Toy or tool only.

·

Somewhere between one and ten🤣

·

That diagram makes no sense to me at all. My phases have been more like:

  1. Fashion brand

  2. Cheap Chinese brands

  3. Better cheap brands (Timex)

  4. Decent brands (Timex, Orient)

  5. Quality watches (B&M, Squale)

  6. Better quality (Hamilton, Oris, Nomos)

  7. Tried a better quality Chinese brand (SM)

  8. Better quality

·

haha, great post....and some truth in it for me....although my vintage phase came earlier....now I am just waiting for the sweet release of number 11 😂

·

I made my way up to 2, but tripped and rolled lazily down to 10.

·

I keep flip flopping between the numbers and 8

Alternative stage 10: "finding your own happy niche".

"Seiko" as stage 10 is just a slightly more online watch fan version of stage 2 Tag Heuer. Still hype/herd mentality.

·

Somewhere between 8 and 9.

·

1 😆

I started out with microbrands and never got a Seiko until I already had 2 Tudors and a 👑 So I’m doing this all wrong

I started with a citizen. Currently in the secret GShock phase

I fly at this similar altitude. I'm still to go to your phase 6. Is there any difference between 6 and 7 aside from brand prestige? I'm considering a SM but I've never seen one outside of YT videos. I've a Baltany and it seems solid and an equal to a good Seiko.

·

Between 3 and 4 there needs to be "Discover the Germans make amazing watches and profess to only buy German watches from now on." That's as far as I got. I sold a bunch of watches this year and ordered a Sinn. I swear I'm done. If anything, I'll sell a couple and not replace them. But I'm keeping the Sinn, because the Germans make amazing watches.

·

I walked around the hill and saved myself the money. 1, and then straight to 10. I'll stay there, thank you very much!

·

Clearly that has to be adjusted for everyone's budgets but pretty spot on. Especially the Seiko phases.

Been looking at Baltany myself. Reviews are always good and as you say seem really solid.

·

Yup solid 8 here

·

My life is been solidified at 6 for decades now... 🧐🍑

·

I am deep in the Casio, Citizen phase of the curve….wherever that is.

·

To break it all down I’m down on 11 or more just happy to have that just one perfect watch weather is cheap or expensive.

Spot on. It’s just a fun hobby no matter the watch .

That’s right but it’s always that one watch that gets you.
