Farer on the moon!

What are your thoughts?

and is it going to be a part of your collection?

With a very classic and some interesting colourways Farer does what they do best and updates their popular pillow-case design with a moon phase complication.

They look good, but not for me. The colors are saying “fun” to me, and while I love fun, I can only spend so much money on a watch like that.

·

Love the case but the colors are not catching my attention too much …

I kinda agree with you.

If i had to choose one it would be the dark blue dial as it is the most muted an classic of the models.

But i think it is refreshing to see some watches take the moon phase complication into another universe than the classy dress watch as always.

In the same way, i'm also a huge fan of the Echo/Neutra moon phase complications 😁😁

I’d say the Farer falls into the “I don’t want this, but I’m glad somebody made it” category.

Yeah with some of their models, but i think they have made some real pretty watches also 🤩

But off course, to each his own 😉

Love them all. I am not into watches with Roman numerals, but for this one it wouldn't matter. The watch is beautiful

·

I like them. I always said Farer is one of the better microbrands out there. They are doing things differently with their funky color designs.

Yeah roman numerals always hit the legibility, but i also can't really imagine this watch with arabics and it still looking good. Maybe with indices only.

True, I was thinking indices too.

I agree, they are really shaking up some of the old design norms 👍 (sometimes they might go a little too far 😅 some of their colour schemes are a little far out there, but rather that than just repeating the same old)

·

I like the look, but unlikely as I’m not attracted to Roman numeral watches. Personal preference, I’m sure they’ll look good on someone.

·

This is an interesting direction for Farer. Farer makes a great watch and the use of bold colors and high fun factor are hallmarks of their watches. I was super impressed by what I saw at Windup Chicago last year.

That said, the moon phase, for me, is more of a classic, elegant complication. I like moon phases on dressier watches. This watch is on the dressier side for Farer, but I don’t consider it a dressy piece. Maybe it’s the way the moon phase is implemented. It’s prominent on the dial and maybe I prefer something a bit more demure? Not sure, but those combination of factors make this watch is a miss for me.

·

I like Farer’s designs and the ethos of the brand. They set out to be different but don’t seem to compromise build quality.

Not every model/colourway appeals to me personally but that takes nothing away from my regard of the watches. I’m impressed how they’ve managed to fit this into a relatively small case. The (lumed) moon looks quite detailed on their website. I personally won’t be getting one as I have the (similarly shaped) Stanhope II but I would like to see one in person!

It reminds me a lot about the Ball Trainmaster Moonphase

It depends on case size and price, I like that salmon dial. Going to their website now!

Breguet numerals work on these type of watches but will always have the problem of being too directly derivative of another brand’s designs.

Agree. Fun and moonphase complication simply dont mix

·

The lumed dial is very different and eye catching.

·

Originally I thought, great more quirky and beautiful odd ball farer watches that I cant justify…but the design of that pink moon one, the beautiful caseback, the LUMED MOON…I don’t know, looks pretty justifiable…

Agreed. The dark blue dial is something else. Not that I am in the market currently, but I wish they offered it on a bracelet & also wish the color on the crown matched the face. The texturing on the case sides being one of the bigger stand outs for me. Absolutely love that. I do want a moon-phase watch someday and I love hand-wind watches.

·

I think someone is addled at Farer, not one moon is golden, ? 2 are pink, I have a LIV watch with a lovely moon phases with a golden moon and stars,. love it

·

There are a few watches at Farer I really like, these do not fall into that category. Something about all the loom on the dial when I consider a moon phase watch more of a dress watch throws me for a loop. This is even more true when the use the cushion case.

·

They are very attractive but the shape of the case is throwing me off. I just don’t like it. If they were round I’d have ordered one.

·

Like that it's part of their collection, but not a win for me personally re: colors. If I was going to a cushion case from Farer I'd still go Stanhope. I do think it's cool that the moon is somewhat photorealistic when glowing, but if I'm going that route I'd just go Christopher Ward or Meistersinger.

·

Like so many Farers, these are close but not quite perfect. I think the complication window is too big and dominant and the colours are slightly off. I've been so close to these two Farers, but nothing else so far:

Love a moon phase!

And I love way too many Farer watches.

And I love love LOVE the pink moon Farer watch. But damn, that price.

Also, it's a cushion case, and I already decided I will have to buy theLethbridge (which is also one of their cushion cases, and I currently live in a city called Lethbridge), so I need someone to give me some money. Please. 😇

Love Farer and the blue one is on its way to me. Should have it tomorrow I believe. Looking forward to wearing it.

You got the Burbidge?

How is it? I'm thinking of getting it too, but I have to wait till 2024 it seems, as its currently sold out.

How is the watch for you so far?
