If I had $4K to spend on a fun Friday watch then I would be all in on this. I don't have $4K to spend on a novelty though.
I get it. I walked into a store today to just look and by look I mean at leather strap dressier watches. At least that is what I thought I wanted and have been looking at for a while now. Saw this and tried it on . . . . pictures do not do it justice, it was love at first wear. Really, it is just a beautiful watch that can go anywhere.
I like the fact that they have their own movements and have tried to like them but in the end the dials just are not to my liking. It may be that I have not seen them in person and they may look more luxurious in person.
The original MoonSwatch was a genius marketing move. Swatch had not been talked about like that in the public since the 80's and at the same time Omega Speedmaster sales went up. Of course they want to ride this wave all the way to the end and why not.
That said I loved one of the comments on the article that said it should have been named "Fools Gold" due to the prices on the secondary market some will pay for this.
