Which Dive Watch That You Own Is Your Favorite?

Found out there's a newer WC badge (Desk Diver) I do not have that I probably should have achieved by now. Let's change that and help others work towards it as well.

As we all are probably aware, the #divewatch is the most popular watch style of recent years; therefore the overwhelming majority of us have at least one diver.

So which diver that you currently own is your favorite? Let's see those beasts of the deep.

Feel free to tell the story of either why dive watches are a favorite of yours or how/why you acquired your favorite diver.

Mine is in the comments.

My favorite dive watch is the Seiko SRPH77K1 the Save The Ocean Swimming Penguins.

To tell the story of it's acquisition, I need to go back to the first days of my WC membership. At that point, I had a few watches, mostly stuff the wife(s) had given me as gifts and two I had bought myself. I had one watch from "respected" brand, but it was a watch from the ex and was as broken as our relationship.

I had been on r/watches for a couple months, but felt myself becoming more jaded and cynical the more time I spent there. I saw a vid from @Max, made an account and fell in love with the community for it's anti-negativity and lack of shitting on the lower end of the watch market.

Even though I did not feel like my watches were scorned in the community, I wanted to own some better pieces from brands I'd heard of before. Brands like Seiko, Casio, Timex, Omega, etc. I wanted to curate a collection representing the history of wristwatches in my lifetime. So a quartz, a digital, a mechanical, an eco-Drive, Kinetic, Chrono, Diver, bronze, Swiss, German, American, etc. I thought a Seiko Negroni would be my baptism into the brand.

That collection was going to be 50+ watches & my financial status being what it is, I knew I'd never be able to acquire multiple heavy hitters like a Speedy, a Sub, a Nautilus etc. I tried to go cheap and made many dumb choices. Mostly in not researching and having patience. Hell, I bought a Pro Diver one night while lying in bed because I just wanted a new watch.

Around October, I saw the SRPH77K1 and other Tuna watches and felt like the Tunas were 1) unique in the #divewatch world and b) had great dials. They were fantastic. The dial on this really looks like the surface of a clear polar ocean to me. The wife also loves penguins so... bonus!

I started doing a bit of research and saw that the community as a whole respected them, they had good reviews, and the secondhand prices were in line with what I could afford.

Set up a couple of saved searches with some price parameters and in early January, bought it to close out my overbuying period of watch enthusiasm. It's now been 3 days shy of 5 months since I bought a new watch and I'm mostly content with the current collection, but there will be some upgrades/changes in the future.

The Swimming Penguins is not only my favorite diver, but also currently my favorite watch overall.

I think my Aquitaine from CW is my favorite but there’s only two divers in the collection at the moment. The case shape and dimensions are great for me, I dig the bronze, and the sapphire bezel is a nice. I think about adding a more traditional diver eventually but I’m in no rush.

My favorite diver in my collection is the Seiko King Turtle Save the Oceans. It’s hard to see the textured dial and manta rays unless you’re in full daylight. Gives me a good reason to go outside to admire the watch.

One of mine is the Omega Seamaster PO. I have a lot of dive watches but none that can go dressy or sporty like this one.

Hmm, I gave my Pagani 007 Seamaster to my nephew, and I have blue and black Duros, mostly because they’re kind of fun, cheap, and the Marlin is being discontinued. But I only wear them occasionally.

So I guess it’s this:

My favorite is my Seiko 7002. It’s vintage goodness from my birth year and I love the patina. It’s the also my only watch on a bracelet, and now I think I’m a “bracelet guy.” Finally, it has a bi-directional bezel, which I am a huge fan of!

I want to like this version, but the HEV ruins it for me.

The first watch that I bought myself and my first automatic, Christopher Ward C60 Trident MkII.

They were still considered a microbrand back then and their watches is more affordable compared to today.

My Seiko LX SNR045. This watch is responsible for making me feel like I'm "done", at least as far as collecting modern Seiko divers is concerned. It's a beast, but it's sensational if you've got the wrist for it.

PO 37.5... I have just a smidgen over 6" wrist so this wears heafty on me, but it's my gada, daily, favorite, and grail all in one....

Here’s my favourite my Clemence Photic Diver.

First saw this watch on JOMW and found out that the brand was based in Edinburgh Scotland, which I still consider my home town despite being based in Stockholm for the past 12 years and loving it. Then Tom from @Clemence_Watches joined WC and we were able to meet up in Edinburgh when I was over for a visit. Loved the watch when I got hands on with it and had to get it.

🙏 Thank you Matt! Really means a lot buddy - hope you continue to enjoy it for many more years!

Great post, given how popular the category is! My favorite diver that I have is my only diver I have: the Citizen Promaster Diver (Eco Drive). It was one of my first watch purchases breaking in to the hobby and love it. I truly feel if that was the only watch I had, I would be fine with it. The QC is superb, totally durable and I don’t have to baby it working with my hands, lume is awesome, accurate, and looks awesome.

I like the look of the Promasters and I feel the same about if one was my only watch.

My fav is definitely the Sne573. It's a small light but very capable solar 200m saphyre affordable one! I have a few other ones (mako 2, kamasu, Casio Duro) but this year it's my most worn watch and it was on the beach on my last trip more then any others.
