Lorier Falcon; The Field Watch I Really Want (Almost)

Around a month ago, I asked the hive mind of the Crunch to share some options for a white-dialed titanium field watch.

You folks came through in a big way. All the options were great options and I hope if someone is looking for a similar watch that post can help them out.

However, none of those options wormed their way into the portion of my brain responsible for driving me insane with desire. They are good -nay, great- options if you are looking for a titanium field watch.

I want something a little different though, a little classier. I want a Lorier Falcon. The size/proportions of the Series III are great;

  • 36mm case

  • 9mm case thickness + 2mm dome crystal

  • 44mm lug-to-lug

  • Strap friendly 20mm lug width tapers to 16mm at clasp

Specs look great as well.

  • Miyota 90S5 automatic movement (no-date), 28800 bph

  • 316L marine-grade stainless steel case

  • 100 meters / 330 feet WR

  • Screw-down crown

  • Domed Hesalite crystal (distortions!)

  • Superluminova BGW9 luminous

  • 316L marine-grade stainless steel bracelet with solid endlinks

  • Fully-articulating solid links(!) secured by screw pins

  • Push-button milled(!) clasp with 3 microadjustment slots

The visuals of the watch are great. I love broad arrow hands, the 3-6-9 dial layout, the triangle at 12, the pointed stick indices, dial texture. It's all great.

Why haven't I bought it yet?

Because I want the dial to be white and the case/bracelet to be titanium. If it was made that way, I'd have bought it, took delivery, argued with the wife, slept on the couch for a week and be enjoying it right now.

Maybe Series IV will be titanium & white-dialed.

Please #Lorier, make that watch! I promise to buy it & suffer the wrath of the spouse! Or make the #Hyperion in titanium! I'll buy that to replace my Airman!

I'll think about it, but I really want the titanium and textured dial.

·

Agree. I tried a v3 on recently in NYC and it was super light, regardless of being steel. I would have bought it but I already have the Neptune and in person they were just too similar.

·

Maybe I will...

·

The Falcon S3 is super light, don’t wait for Ti. Not sure they’ll do a white dial…

I don't need the watch, so I can wait for what I want.

About the Lorier Falcon III I'd ask owners about the lume in the hands as in the Neptune S IV if faded very quickly while the hour markers stay strong. The hour hand extension of lume is very small in comparison so I sold it.

Thanks for the the tip

Lorier is fantastic. Reach out to them and let them know your presence. You never know…

Great idea.

Man, I love peer pressure!!

Here's my submission since I missed the OG post.

https://ca.momentumwatch.com/products/atlas-automatic-38mm-white?variant=44198764806368

Edit: We are right on budget at $495. Plus until tonight you get an additional 20% off for cyber Monday.

·

I actually love the way the falcon looks but the 36mm case size has kept me away. I feel like that’s too small for me. I make 40mm look dressy.

Yeah, it's nice, but it's not the Falcon.

What about Nivada's new 35mm Super Antarctic?

Comes in two different 'white' dials

  • Cream

  • or White

... and on a variety of different bracelets and straps with a choice of two lume colours.

It's a re-issue of a watch (the original) Nivada issued in the mid 20th Century.

I own the 38mm variant - same case, different dial lay out and mines black.

They're good watches - arguably a step up from Lorier (I also own both the Hyperion and the Gemini), especially the movement and it's a sapphire crystal if that's important to you - I like acrylic, prefer it really.

Although the brand is a phoenix that rose from the ashes of a long defunct Nivada Grenchen they do re-issue watches from their back catalogue. It's arguably an invented history, but it's a history nonetheless.

Not Ti and not a textured dial, but light, well sized and have a heap of personality. They're good watches for the money. I really like Lorier but if I was choosing between the Falcon and the Super Antarctic, between Lorier and Nivada more broadly - I'd choose the latter every time.

Good luck with the hunt.

I've seen some Nivada Grenchen I can get with, but this one needs darker indices for me at minimum.

Your wrist is bigger than mine (7.5") and I feel like I can pull off a 36mm.

·

You don’t think 36 is too small? I’d need to try it on wrist

·

Just say the word and we'll build you one man. 1/3 price of the Lorier 😉

You never know, maybe Lorier will dabble in Ti eventually, it will prolly be the Falcon of the Neptune, seeing as either are their most popular.

I would agree with @Watchovski tho, my SIII is already hella light and slim, Ti would make it so it'd almost feel like you had nothing on but a nylon bracelet when on a single pass!

Luv mine..👌🏻

·

I know the feeling :-). If this was 37mm, LTL 46mm plus sapphire crystal, it would be an instant buy for me. I love the textured dial. But I'm waiting until they come to their senses on the crystal minimum.

·

Just to throw a few curve balls at you have you thought about CW12

Or a Knot (that date wheel needs changing though)

Lorier goes for the vintage aesthetic. I doubt they make a titanium watch ever because it would go against their ethos. Just like they refuse to make sapphire crystal versions of their watches. So I doubt your request is heeded, although you should certainly try.

I'm new to wanting this particular watch and don't need the watch in any way, shape or form, so I don't mind waiting to see if/when it gets made.

The Twelve is a great watch and if I was looking for something in an integrated bracelet, it would be top of list.

·

Love the Falcon and the Astra.

·

My dream... 😭

·

Yeah, I'm probably still gonna end up getting the Series III or II at some point though.

I like the III for the 3-6-9 dial & the II for the white dial.

Its gonna be the handset that determines it, I think.

That's a nice watch, never considered this one.
