When I first got into watches, I thought only manually wound mechanicals with display casebacks would give me that special feeling. Then I found room in my heart for rotors (not literally, unless my cardiologist has something new up his sleeve). From there, I came to accept quartz watches if I liked the dials enough, and even found genuine love for the movements themselves when I picked up a Grand Seiko 9F and a Bulova Precisionist. Had I remained dogmatic, I’d have missed out on a lot of good stuff. Another win for William Kennedy’s advice to “Avoid gratuitous absolutes.”
