Your favorite Lume watch, and why.

Shockingly lume isn't a major factor these days for me when I purchase a watch, it's more like a well appreciated bonus.

But when I know I will want to read the time in the dark I reach for my Panerai every time, it glows all night long. I have no idea what they put in their lume mixture, but it has amazing duration.

I have many other watches in my collection with great lume, but nothing can compete with the Panerai.

Let's see and hear about your best luminaries.

The best lume in my watches has my Hanhart. Surprisingly better than my dive watch 🤪.

But honestly, nothing can beat a G-Shock when you press the Light button at night.

One day, I would like to own a watch with a fully lumed dial, because that's probably even better than a G-Shock hence it won't turn off just after a few seconds. My current favourite is the Doxa 300 Whitepearl.

None of mine can match your Panerai but my Zelos (and all my other divers) are okay.

Image

But the lume doesn’t last long.

·

I’d love to see the lume on your citizen JDM pro master that I commented on in WRUW please?

Btw that panerai lume is fantastic!

Both gorgeous lumies, wowza!

On a proper dive watch you only really need a couple of hours glow time anyway.

They're both pretty amazing! 😍

That is a really beautiful watch.

I have three Marathon watches with tritium to choose from, so I usually grab one of them when I want to reliably read my watch in the dark.

Great lume on a very unappreciated watch

Thanks! It was love a first sight for me, and it has kept my attention over many years. This truly is my favorite watch ever.

That is a great way to go.... I had a Ball Watch with the tubes when they first came out and it was glowing all night in multi colors.

Fourteen years in my collection, since new (2009).

The WASHI dial Chronomaster does not have any lume, I chose the model without lume because like Grand Seiko that watch is so shiny it isn't much of a problem to read a night without the lume!

Love my Timex Expedition Shock T49983 Negative display as its just the numbers that illuminate not the whole face

I love the full lumed dial on my cheap little beater. It surprisingly lasts quite a decent amount of time as well.

I have this watch too and the full dial lume is great!

This one does it for me… Omega Seamaster 300M 007 Edition

Looks pretty nice, love the full lume on the bezel.

Thanks. Yours is pretty nice as well. I'm surprised with mine to be so good at its price point.

No full lume dials yet (I’d love to get one, the Doxa looks great but I’m leery since their lume is poor on other models)

My collection is almost all divers.

The Swiss (Oris Aquis, Rado Cap Cook, Zodiac Sea Wolf ) range from ‘ok’ to ‘meh’

The Seikos range from ‘wow’ to ‘my eyes!!!’

Regular Seiko divers are great, but my Prospex LX slays all my watches on brightness, legibility and lume longevity. It does all night easily and is still bright at 5:30 AM

Rado looks cool but doesn’t last long

Prospex LX needs welding glasses. It get that middle of day glowing sometimes in even a bright room

Image

Your Prospex LX would glow even without lume.

·

Definitely BB Pro. Not even trying hard and going to the dark room and this glows like a torch. Also ceramic lume plots without outer rim look sick

Never saw one of those in the flesh. Are you familiar with them? What is it that separatea the Erika Straps from the typical Nato you can find everywhere?

It’s a very tight knit semi stretchy fabric.

·

Course my very close second would have to be the FXD Pelagos!

Not tight on wrist, though tight weave

Seiko is known for their famous and proprietary lumi-brite lume. It's true you can find some of the best lume on Seiko divers, I have many in my own collection.

The lume on bread and butter Essential Seikos is good too. Hold them up to a modern light bulb for a few seconds and they'll glow all night long. My favorite is the Seiko SGEH49P2.

Was not familiar with that reference but I looked it up and Joma shop has them on sale for like $104.00 which is a pretty sweet deal for a great looking watch.

Thank you for putting up the lume post. As you could see, a lot of us were interested. My very first watch that I had in grade school had lume. It was a Timex (Mercury?) and if we as adults like lume on watches, imagine what a small boy in the 1960s thought.

Any Seiko watch with the prefix SGE is a killer. I have four of them and most have sapphire, 100mWR, steady and precise second hands, and great looking dials and metalwork for around $100. We can say what we want about Seiko (and of course, we do) but they seem determined to put the best dial they can on every watch regardless of price.

My favorite is the SGEH49P2, but I also have the SGEG97P1 which to me resembles a working man's Breguet. No lume though.

Lovely watch. Been looking for that same exact watch.

I own a ProTek Field Series 3003, tritium by Swiss self-powered ProGlo T100. No need to charge and lasts all night long. No Super-LumiNova watch I own can compare.
