Multiple versions of the same watch...

What is everyone's opinion on having duplicates/close variations of the same model in your collection? Would you have duplicate models just in a different colour perhaps? Or would it have to have a different complication etc. to warrant a place? And is having two pepsi bezel models excessive 🤣 for the record, the picture above is not my collection, but I'm currently trying to figure out if I should have two NY004 Citizen Promaster models in my collection.

I think its OK Richard, I have two Casio EFV100's and I think Andy @Bayl61 has all the Duros. The thing is these are fairly cheap-ish watches, if I liked something more expensive I would think twice. Having said that thinking about another Oceanus in a different colour and that is £300 !

Your collection your rules! Clearly you’ve found a watch you like so why not explore that model family more? You can always sell them down the line if you decide to refine.

Yeah I mean, the Promaster is my favourite watch, so at least I'm mining a rich area of my collection 😎

If you like it then buy it even in multiples……👍🏻

·

Sure why not. As long as you like them. I have two Kamasus, two GShocks 5600 series, and two Boderry Voyagers and I enjoy wearing them all. I think we should all folllow or ignore our own rules.

·

I see no problems here 😊

I don't really see an issue with that 😀

However in my case, whenever two versions of the same watch have co-existed at the same time, there has been some thinking about which one to keep. Of the 4 watches above I still have only one.

·

Perfectly ok…oh sorry. I thought you were asking about boxer shorts. But yes, still ok.

·

I have multiple speedmasters. I know people with watch boxes filled with speedmasters. There is no rule to collecting that says how you have to collect. Follow your heart and what makes you smile

·

I dont see the point, I chose the version/color I like the most and live with it.

·

Why would anyone do that?

I’ve 5 Willard’s, 3 SBBN tunas, 4 monsters, and goodness knows how many G-lide G shocks. Having typed all of that, I readily acknowledge I have a problem 😂😂

·

Collecting several versions (or the same version) of the same watch is an approach to collecting. I prefer to have a variety of watches I like so it always feel new when I put on a different watch.

Yeah, your collection your rules. I personally wouldn’t have two watches from the same model/family. But I do have several watches that look very similar. So in reality it’s not really that different.

As cliche as it sounds, I don’t think there is any right answer to what you should have in your collection. Other than it’s your collection, get what you like. Haha.

My Seiko V743-9020's. Its like they are brothers and will never be separated 🙂🙂

Nice!!!

I keep contemplating buying another Casio Duro so, I get it.

I think I may be getting a Citizen Promaster Automatic next though 😉.

·

I am guilty of multiples of the same watch, and I'm very happy about it! https://www.watchcrunch.com/Watchgeekery/posts/the-dilemma-of-several-watches-of-the-same-model-306365

I have nothing insightful to add about collectiing but that photo has me wanting a NY004 Citizen. Their own product photography doesn't do those watches justice

·

Guilty as charged.

Aaaa yes, better known as the"But you have that one"paradox!! Usually found coming from the blowhole of a significant other or insignificant other. The best solution the resolve the paradox is as simple as color. "No bitch, I DONT have same watch!! One's black and one's Pepsi!!!

·

Totally ok with it. As long as theyre not exactly the same, theyre different

I leave out the bitch part but the rest of it’s pretty accurate.

Not a crime but not my practice when buying ⌚.

I prefer each ⌚ to have a distinct attribute lacking in the others.

·

Your money do it if you love the watches by multiple different varieties 👍👍

I think its great to complete a collection or set. I call my mini gathering the fantastic four, All unworn and mine for the keeping. Duane.....Black Diamond, WA. 98020

I'm okay with it. I have 2 King samurai. One black dial and the other the white dial. Love both.
